I prepared the recipe as stated except for using salsa verde instead of the tomatillos. I didn't think it was good at all! The flavors didn't seem to complement each other, so I won't make this again.

This was outstanding. Like others, I tweaked here and there, but only because I used what I had in the house, but YUM!

This was a great recipe, which I adjusted only slightly as follows: 4 T olive oil >4-5 large cloves of garlic (I love garlic b/c I don't do salt.) >2 lbs uncooked chix chopped into 1" squares--boneless chix breasts are easy >1 really large yellow onion chopped (I cried.) >10-15 chopped tomatillos (I panicked and lost count.) > >Heat olive oil and garlic cloves in a big soup pot, crush and mash garlic with fork as it softens (do not brown). Add chix and cook until no longer pink. Add onion and cook until transparent. Add chopped tomatillos and cook a few minutes until they are not so bright green. > >Okay, that was the only hard part! > >Add the following and simmer for another 30 minutes (or until you're sure the chix is cooked): > >2 cans (14.5) reduced sodium and fat chix broth >1 can (14 or 16) diced tomatoes >2 cans (4 oz) chopped mild diced green chiles >2 cans (15) Goya white beans >10 oz. bag frozen corn >1 t oregano or Italian seasoning >1 t ground coriander >1 t ground cumin >1 t salt > >Cooking the day before always enhances flavor! > >Top with a dollop of sour cream, avocado slice, cilantro sprig, fresh lime slice and provide cayenne pepper to let your guests add their own heat.

Definitely needs more liquid!! I used 2 fairly large split breasts that were cooked up in the slow cooker the night before with olive oil and taco seasoning. Not quite a pound, but close enough. I used an equivalent amount of homemade broth (tasty result of slow cooking the chicken!) in place of the canned stuff and found that it was not enough. So I added about 2 cups of tomato juice and a bit of water. Used a cup (and then some) of salsa in place of the tomatillos and green chilis, just because I didn't have them. And I used about a cup of canned corn instead of fresh. After letting it simmer for a while, I thought it was a little bland, so I added hot sauce, more cumin and taco seasoning. NOW it was ready for dinner. Kinda wish I made cornbread...

This soup is AMAZING. Most recently, I also substituted salsa verde for the tomatillos, but I've had it both ways and its awesome either way. It never lasts long!

I would give this a million stars if I could. I few changes I made: I added a diced poblano chili with the onions and garlic. It added a nice dimension of flavor without being too spicy. I used one can of crushed tomatillos, a can of diced tomato with jalapeno, and one can of regular diced tomatoes. It was over the top delicious!!

This was the best. Has a really good taste. I added a can of tomato juice to mine. I don't like spicy chili so I left out the jalapeno's and it was just fine.

This recipe is great. Very low on fat and calories. Great for anyone on weight watchers. I changed it by using 1 T of olive oil, 12.5 oz of canned chicken breast (from Costco), and I use frozen corn.

This was sooooo good. It does turn out a little soupy. I reserved some white beans and turned them into a paste in the food processor and then added to the chili. It thickened the sauce a bit. Call it soup, call it chili. Either way it is great.

Really hearty and lots of flavor! I made a double batch for my daughter's birthday party and everyone loved it. Served with sides of sweet cornbread, salad, and grilled cheese. Made in the crockpot and subbed green salsa for tomatillos. I only used one can of chicken broth (for the double batch), and chili was still runny so I thickened it up with cornstarch and water. Thanks for the recipe - it was exactly what I wanted!!!

Awesome chili. I was not able to find canned tomatillos at my grocery store, only the fresh variety. I steamed them with some anaheim and jalapenos. Otherwise I followed the recipe and the chili came out great.

SPECTACULAR! So full of flavor! Taking other reviewers feedback into consideration, I added chili pepper (1 tsp), cornstarch (3 tsp), 1/2 cup milk, and Rotel mild tomatoes w/ chilis. This is the BEST!

My husband loved this so much, he requested it again 3 days later! Very easy dish to adapt, too. I used ground chicken to make it easier, and added other beans along with the white beans (kidney, pinto). The lime, cilantro, cheese, and sour cream really add to the chili. This is a keeper!

Delicious with several other reviews suggestions: Salsa Verde, a little cornstarch, and extra cumin. I was afraid it would be spicy or a little too seasoned for my toddler, but it was milder than I expected. Definitally could be spiced up with jalapenos in some form (with diced tomatoes or fresh, sauteed.). Thanks for the recipe!

Needed more spice. Was rather salty but otherwise lacked flavor. Very good texture and color. With a bit more cumin, chili powder, and cayenne pepper, it would have been perfect.
