I made this cake with the black chocolate cake from this site for my brother's wedding. He loved it. Said it was the best wedding cake he'd ever had.

Fantastic recipe!!! I made this exactly as written and it was perfect. Very moist and dense with great flavor. It tasted like a bakery cake and was really easy. It is great for tiered cakes it held up well as a bottom layer of a 2 tiered cake. I used white chocolate frosting and filled with raspberry jam, it was wonderful!

Good. Very dense crumb almost like angel food cake. I made it in two silicone round cake pans & baked them for 35 minutes. I cut each round in half horizontally and filled with Pastry Cream from this site & a strawberry filling & dusted the top with powdered sugar. Very good.

Best recipe ever!! I have been trying several recipes trying to find the best one, and this is it. I cut the almond flavoring in half and it was just the right amount to me. Very moist and cooked perfectly!

Mmmm! I love it! I ate some of this cake before it was iced/frosted and it was so good! I am one of those people who have to eat their cake with icing but this one was good enough without it. It was really moist and tasted wonderful. I can't say anything bad! I will use this recipe many, many more times.

Used this for my first wedding cake and it was a huge hit. I made five tiers, some white and some chocolate and used a cream cheese frosting. In the white cakes I used imitation almond because of nut allergies in the family, so I added a tad extra. In the chocolate cakes I replaced the almond with rum extract. All the baking was done Wednesday for a Friday wedding and the cakes stayed perfect. I overheard tons of guests going on about how awesome the cake was, so it is definitely a recipe I would use again.

I made this cake for my son's 11th Birthday. I used a #1 cake pan and made 2 cakes. I forgot to sift the flour on the 1st cake and it didn't turn out as good(it was crumbly) as the second that I did sift. I also made a Buttercream frosting that was awesome. I will definitely use this recipe again. My only question is "Does it work with a chocolate cake too?" Someone said in her review that you could use this on any kind of cake mix. I was just not sure if that means chocolate too. Thanks to anyone who can help.

This is a totally awesome cake! I could not bring myself to add an additional cup of sugar so I added only a 1/2 cup. This cake I thought actually tasted better the next day. You can easily impress anyone with this cake.

Outstanding cake! I made a 3-tier cake for a wedding using this wonderful recipe. Everyone RAVED about the moist, yummy, delicious cake. The white cake layers had a homemade raspberry filling; the chocolate layer had a chocolate mousse filling. Absolutely a keeper recipe! Made 8 cups of batter. I used Betty Crocker cake mix for both the chocolate (German Chocolate, to be specific) and white layers.

Wow!!! This turned out great and I followed the recipe exactly. The batter smells so good and while it was baking it was great too... I had a different purpose for this cake... I had an order for a strawberry shortcake, but they didn't want a biscuit kind of cake... I used this, but put it in 3 - 9 inch round pans, was the perfect amount of cake for each layer... still nice and firm... great!

I used this recipe for a friend's wedding cake and it was fantastic! Firm enough to hold up under three tiers worth of cake weight, but still delicious and fluffy to eat. I put raspberry puree in the middle and frosted it with my favorite cream cheese frosting.

Delicious! And I love that the base is a boxed cake mix...makes it that much easier :). I frosted it with just a store-bought chocolate frosting & it was great! Can't wait to try it with other frostings/fillings/fondant :).
