The dates make wonderful little pockets of sweetness that my kids really liked. I didn't change this recipe at all, because I never want to make changes the first time around, and I think it's great just the way it is. But I think that some ginger and nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice would be an excellent match for this bread for Thanksgiving or Christmas. This is now in my recipe box, and I'll spice it up next time.
