Great recipe! Looking for a good one that didn't use buttermilk, and this was great. Thanks!

This is now my go to waffle recipe ever since I got a waffle maker. I do not change a thing other than throwing in blueberries if I ever have some on hand. Thanks!

Totally perfect as written. No changes necessary. Quick, easy, crispy on the outside and just sweet enough to be totally delicious!

I have never made my own waffle batter before & it was very good. These smell wonderful when you open the waffle iron. Doubled the sugar & vanilla as others suggested. Why waste money on mixes you have to add eggs, milk & oil to anyway. Might as well go all the way & make your own.

Made these just a few moments ago because i was craving for waffles. I like my waffles a little overcooked (so its really brown all over), i topped it off with maple syrup and some chilled sliced bananas. Love it! Will be using the recipe again :) Btw, definitely DOUBLE the sugar and vanilla.

The first time I made this recipe I accidentally left out the baking powder and the waffles really didn't turn out very well. I tried it again and did the recipe exactly as stated and they turned out great. I may add cinnamon to them the next time.

Pretty good but I think there can be more flavor. I followed the recipe except that I doubled the vanilla as suggested by another reviewer. I also folded in the egg whites at the end for a fluffier waffle. I will try other recipes for a bit more flavor next time.

I made breakfast for dinner - which we love at our house, and this is the first time I have ever made waffles from scratch, I always use Bisquick. Anyway, I followed the recipe to the letter, and we thought they were great! I loved them. I saw someone saying that their waffles were way too thin, my waffles were not thin at all. They were light and fluffy. Thanks for sharing the recipe! My teenage daughter was pretty impressed!

It was a good batter, but my waffles came out way too thin! I was a little disappointed (I was looking for something a bit fluffier) but my family really loved them. I too, doubled the amount of sugar.

Absolutely love these waffles. They were so crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I realize now that the other recipe I was using had no flavor. I buy bread flour so that was what I used instead of plain all purpose, other than that I didn't change the recipe in any way. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Per other reviews, I too separated my eggs; beat the egg white till soft peaks formed and folded them in last. Result--nice crispy waffles on the outside and chewy on the inside. I too found them a bit bland, may trying adding a bit more sugar, or more vanilla or even vanilla beans and pumpkin flavoring (another reviewers suggestion) next time. I will make these yummy waffles again! thank you!

This is an outstanding recipe. I suggest doubling the amount of sugar, however. I also recommend spraying your waffle iron with cooking spray before EACH waffle. Yummy!!

This is a great classic waffle recipe. I liked the suggestion of whipping the egg whites, which truly makes the waffles crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Three other changes that I made were: 1. Add 1/4 c. sugar - the extra sugar made my girls want to eat the waffles without the syrup. 2. Used whole wheat pastry flour - it's white and fine, yet has the extra fiber that our family needs. 3. Reduced the flour to 1-3/4 C and added 1/4 c. Malted Barley Flour. This is a key ingredient in waffles and made them taste just like the ones you make at the Marriott Residence Inn or Fairfield Inn - I think it's the Carbon brand of waffle mix. Anyway, the recipe is great and I've even hand-written the recipe in my recipe book. Thanks for sharing this!

This was great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I did change it. I separated the egg whites and set them aside. Mixed the egg yokes with the wet ingredients. Then mixed the dry ingredents(I used white wheat flour) and added 1/2 teaspoon of pumkin spice. Next I beat the egg whites to a peak and folded them into the batter. This makes them come out crips. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes. Left overs we freeze and my kids love putting them into the toaster through out the week. They also love it when I cook some rasins into them. I at least make them once a week.

No sure why it is rated to high. The waffles have a very bland flavor, pretty good texture, but flavor is lacking. Might as well have a frozen eggo instead of go to this trouble.

LOVE IT! I don't have a waffle maker, so I used my cast iron grill pan (well buttered) instead just to give it some texture. It tasted very fluffy, my boyfriend loved it, and that speaks volume because he's usually very fussy. This recipe is going in my collection!
