This COULD be the best chocolate brownie. However, besides just putting ingredients and simple directions doesn't make it so. They taste amazing... I now have awesome chocolate crusted hard chocolate pudding. :) Admittedly, I followed the suggestion to cut in half and do a 8x8. Left in for a little over 30 minutes, as the cake tester never came out dry/clean. I let it set for about an hour, it was still goo inside. I put it back in a little longer. Not much change. I realize that it was likely the chocolate chips melting that caused it, so in hind site, I think you need to let the batter cool before putting in the second batch of chips in. I will try this recipe again, as even as it did come out, it's very good. Next time, however, I'll use bittersweet/dark chocolate in some combination.

This recipe is phenomenal ! Thanks for posting, Jan. Here's my suggestion for who says it doesn't come out nicely. Since this recipe uses lots of chocolate, it needs to be cooled down well till it sets. Putting back into the oven may not help but let it cool. I also think the batter should be cooled well before you add the rest half of chocolate chips into it. I think this will help chocolate chips not melting completely into the batter so it won't get runny.

I didn't really understand the rave reviews for this recipe. The brownies were dry on the edges and didn't have a whole lot of flavour. I didn't get a single compliment on them. I won't make them again.

This is hands down the best brownie recipe I have ever used. I used to use the 'Best Brownies' recipe on this site, but wasn't happy with the texture. They were way too much like cake. These brownies are much more brownie like.. chewy and extremely chocolatey without being overly sweet. I followed the recipe exactly, except for halving it. This will definitely be my brownie recipe from now on!

excellent - we are brownie lovers and these are among the top we have tasted! I only had 3 cups of choc. chips, but the brownies were still delectable - i think i will add walnuts next time.

Great recipe! It turns out pretty cakey though, so if you want more fudgey brownies just melt a half to a full cup more chocolate chips into the batter, and only put in 3 eggs rather than the 4 which the recipe calls for.

Excellent, will definitely make these again but they are too thick in my opinion. Next time I will use a little bigger pan.

OK, heres the basic idea: I love chocolate. However, every brownie recipe I make from scratch tastes really terrible. I made these brownies yesterday for a friend.. I am telling you, these are BY FAR the best brownies I have EVER made (boxed included). Even the girl I brought them to didn't believe they weren't from a box, so I had to send her the recipe for proof! The changes I made was to halve the recipe, baked it in a 8x8 glass pan for 25 minutes. The one review is absolutely correct, they must set up before you cut into them or you will want to put them back in the oven. Seriously though, these are fabulous!

Tried this recipe along with about ten others, and this is the one that is better than a box. I once only had 3 cups of chips, and it worked well too!

Fantastic chocolate brownie. Very chocolately, very gooey and very yummy. I split the batter into two smaller tins and cooked a little longer than stated but undoubtedly the best brownie I have tasted!! My seven year old daughter says YUMYUMYUM!

Great recipe! I added a little less of the 2nd part of 2C of choc chips to the batter. I also had to cook it longer than recipe called for but mmmmmm! good. It had the best texture and flavor. You can't go wrong with this one. Its a keeper

My kids LOVE these. Yesterday I made this recipe substituting with half mint chocolate chips. Not my cup of tea, but my kids (who are not kids but young adults) were very impressed.
