Colorful but lackluster. No flavor. Needs perking up, big time. With plain rice, you expect a mild, unseasoned flavor. But when the rice is pretty and colorful as this is, your taste buds expect something more than just...plain rice. Because I used regular long-grain rice, which I cooked in chicken broth, I sauteed the squash in a separate pan in olive oil. I used a fair amount of dill and Parmesan but this just didn't take off. I finally threw in some Penzey's Fox Point seasoning which at least helped. This needs butter, olive oil or even some bacon fat. The rice should be cooked in broth. It needs seasoning - your choice. It needs green onion maybe, or regular onion or garlic. It needs pepper. But you shouldn't have to work with a recipe this much.
