Great soup for a cold day. I cooked a leftover ham bone for stock, water is too plain. I omitted the sugar and the basil, but added 2 potatoes. I added the cornstarch per the recipe but next time I won't use the corn starch - it made the broth white and did not look as appealing - it looked much better without the white.

Great recipe for leftover ham. I used 6 cups of chicken broth. I also used fresh basil and tomatoes from the garden. I threw everything in the crock pot on high for 5 hrs. Then I added some alphabet pasta and cooked for another 30 mins or so. After tasting it I thought it was so good I didn't bother with the cornstarch. I garnished it with fresh basil and freshly grated asiago.

This was delicous! I followed the recipe closely too. I used minced garlic instead of garlic powder, and I used 5c chicken broth instead of just water. I didn't add any sugar. I added whole wheat noodles at the end instead of the corn starch. It was very hearty and we all loved it!

I followed this recipe exactly and agree with some other reviewers that there wasn't enough water... I also think there was too much cabbage for my liking. If I make it again, I would definitely add more ham, carrots, and I'd probably add potatoes or rice.

very good soup. I omitted the final steps of cornstarch and water. I enjoyed the touch of sweetness.

This was good. I didn't add the cornstarch and kept it as a soup. All kinds of vegetables could be added to this. Great way to use leftover ham. I used 2 cups of low sodium broth and 2 cups water. Glad I used low sodium broth because my ham was pretty salty to begin with.

Great way to use the leftover ham! I added an extra cup of ham, 2 cups of water, 1 Tablespoon chicken bouillon granules, and two cups dried egg noodles. I also whipped up a batch of corn muffins to go with it. It was delicious. I think I will make a double batch tommorrow to bring to my grandma. Very yummy! My husband loved it, too.

This was ok - I was not too crazy about it, but it used up my leftoves. I didn't measure every single ingredient, but just eye-balled everything. I also added 2 medium potatoes and omitted the starch step. Added dried red chili pepper powder, as well as some parsley at the very end. OK

Very good! I sauted my onions, celery and chopped fresh garlic in 1 TBSP butter, used chicken broth instead of water and added butternut squash. Did not use green pepper, but did add whole wheat pasta to thicken instead of the cornstarch. Great hearty, healthy soup!
