Despite all the excellent reviews, I was skeptical that such few and simple ingredients could result in such an excellent soup. I wouldn't change a thing.

Delicious and so healthy too!! Followed the recipe exactly but added one teaspoon salt. Even my 9 year old liked it (if I puree all the beans she'd probably love it)! Thanks for recipe - its a keeper.

This is very good. It's more like a chili than a black bean soup. I cut the recipe in half and added 1 teaspoon of salt. I also simmered it for about an hour (rather than the 15 minutes in the recipe) because I wanted the veggies to be soft.

Absolutely loved this soup! However, I didn't rinse and drain the black beans so the soup was very liquidy.

I fixed this soup last night for friends and everyone just loved it! It is very easy to fix and tastes so good. I used dried black beans as I didn't have the canned ones, so started those in the morning. Then later I just followed the recipe and it went together quickly. I upped the spices a bit just because I really like spicy food, but other than that didn't change a thing. Thank you for a great recipe, this will be one of our favorites.

I'm not vegetarian but every once in awhile I like to eat vegan/vegetarian meals. I thought this soup was very good. All of my guests liked it as well. Used one can less beans, left out celery because I hate the stuff but left everything else the same. From other reviewers it seems like this recipe is pretty flexible. This will definitely be in our recipe folder from now on.

such a fabulous and easy recipe !!! easy as pie, and tastes like heaven. the chili in the recipe makes it especially nice coming home in a nebraska winter... warms your body right up !!!

I shared this recipe with several people. I was not sure whether to drain & rinse the black beans or not. I added them just as they came from the can without draining. Everyone said it is a keeper.

Great EAST recipe, it was a big hit. Serve with sour cream and or cheese toppings. For an extra kick add more chili powder.

This soup was great, my whole family liked it. I used beef broth instead of vegatable because I didn't have it. And I also added rice, it is a complete meal! The only change is that I would add more carrots than just 2 if you like carrots, they get lost in the soup.

What a great recipe! Being a Weight Watcher, I'm always looking for low-fat, high fiber. This soup is less than one point per serving! Plus the family liked it!

Considering that it's made from nothing but basic ingredients that I ALWAYS have on hand, it's amazingly delicious and easy! I didn't hear a single complaint from my kids toddler to 12, so I will be making this a lot. (I did add some chopped, fresh spinach, and the added green made it pretty.)

I was SO impressed with this recipe. I followed it exactly as written, with one teensy change--I added about 1/4 tsp of crushed red pepper instead of the black pepper. Absolutely perfect. Makes a ton!
