Awesome flavor! And it was so easy. I don't usually use canned corn but the flavor was so good. I used 1Tb. of chilli powder, 1/2 tsp. of cumin and I added to the recipe 1Tb. parsley flakes. Next time I will used less water/chicken broth. I like my soups thicker.

This soup was good, but be prepared for a very spicy soup. The cumin and chili give it a very strong flavor. I would cut way back on the seasonings next time or change them to oregano and basil for a more italian flair.

This was a tasty success! Makes way more than indicated in the recipe, but this is good! Great to freeze in individual portions for later use. I added a bit more pepper spice and mushrooms.

This is super-simple and wonderful. I put pepper cheese on top and served with corn muffins. The carnivorous husband raved.

This recipe is a staple in our household. I'm a vegetarian- hubby isn't but he loves it too. Perfect with Lynne's Mexican Cornbread recipe (not vegan) from this site.

This soup is awesome. It's very flavorful and healthy. I used half of the chili powder called for and it was perfect. I made it on Thanksgiving and everybody liked it. I will definitely make this again. Very tasty!

This soup was super-easy and tasted fairly good. But oh my goodness... did it make us toot, if you know what I mean! Don't make it for company or you'll have a little symphony going on a little later ;) haha... it was good, but just remember what the main ingredient is!

Wow. What great soup! I served it to vegetarian and meat-eaters, and got a thumbs up from all. Nice blend of flavors and good consistency. Serve with crusty bread and salad. I used home made vegetable broth (recipe on this site, world's best vegetarian broth) and served finished soup with a dollop of sour cream on top of each bow. Yum.

Easy and wonderfully tasty. I did modify it somewhat as I like things spicy. I added two chopped jalapenos - one in the saute and one near the end (could stand one or two more). I upped the garlic and added another stalk of celery, too. Also, I served it with some fresh cilantro.

Great recipe! I substitute chicken broth for the vegetable broth and cut the amount in half for a more stew-like consistency. I also have experimented with substituting 1 Tbsp. of the chile powder with chipotle chile powder or ancho chile powder - both are nice variations on the original.

This is a great Black Bean soup! I didn't use the celery or tomatoes (didn't have either one on hand). I used chicken broth instead of veggie and added a small can of diced green chiles. Also, I used an entire bag of black beans that had been soaked overnight - this made it thicker and also gave it a darker color. Excellent flavor - thanks for the recipe!

This soup is wonderful!! I actually cooked this in the crockpot. When I got to this step in the recipe - "reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 15 minutes." I put it in the crockpot on low for about 4 hours. The veggies still had a crunch to them. I added some shredded cheddar cheese (cause I'm not vegan :-)) and served it w/ whole wheat bread. Loved it!! Thanks!

This is very easy to make & it tastes delicious! I used chicken stock in place of the vegetable broth & cooked it in my slowcooker (use less stock if you do it in the slow cooker). Don't forget the sour cream dollop when serving!
