I thought this was a delicious recipe! I only had 2 cans of black beans, so I used a kidney bean and a garbanzo bean in place of the 2 other black beans. It is so simple and easy with great flavor. I will use this again for sure!

I really liked this recipe. Looking at the recipe, it seemed a little bland, so I added a bit of smoked paprika and oregano and increased the other spices. It was so yummy with some sour cream and toasted tortilla triangles. However my boyfriend was not so enthused :(

Was good but lacked the spark that would make this a fantastic soup.

Great recipe! My husband and I love having this soup for dinner. We usually add or subtract a few veggies depending on our particular taste at the time. We usually eat it a few nights in a row, and it just gets better each night!

very yummy & hearty soup that my boyfriend and I LOVE! (and we're not even vegan..haha). I don't have a food processor, so blending the beans & tomatoes is a bit harder in a blender. I only use 3 cups of broth, initially and then use the other cup to use in the blender in the 2nd step. The liquid helps everything blend much better & smoother & keeps your blender from blowing up!

While this was really good, there were some things I would change. I like a more chunky soup so I only used one cup of broth instead of four. I also blended up one can of black beans instead of two. The cumin and chili powder were a little overpowering so I added a few sprigs of fresh cilantro and 2 Tbsp canned green chilies.

I changed some things around. I soaked 1/2lb of dry black beans, didn't have any celery, and added frozen corn instead. I also added some green chillies. It came out nice and thick after cooking for 1 1/2 hours. Good soup.

very good - easy to make. I love that it had the vegetables in it - may not fit with southwestern theme but one more tasty way to eat your veggies!

This soup was great!!! I was surprised, I was a little concerned about how it was going to turn out. The only thing i did was add a little red pepper and i used chicken broth instead of vegetable broth, i didn't have vegetable broth. Will defently be making this again.

Added a splash of lime juice and hot pepper sauce for more flavor since I found this soup bland. It is an okay soup but not great.

Good and tasty. Turns out more like a chili than a soup. Very easy and quick. Thanks for the recipe.

I was trying to use up some things, so didn't follow recipe exactly, but kept most of the measurements proportionate to original. I ended up playing around with it a bit until it was to my liking -- a splash of malt vinegar, a pinch of cilantro and oregano, a teaspoon or two of chinese mustard -- then crunched up tortilla chips for the topping. It was delicious! Hearty! Wonderful! Thanks for the ideas!

I just finished making this dish and I'm eating it now. This really is a good bowl of soup. The fact that it has a lot of vegetables in it makes me happy. This smells so very much like chili but has a very smooth texture along with some of the crunch from the corn. Over all a spectacular soup. Will definitely make again.

Overall, this is delicious! I skipped the carrots, celery and onions--as a previous reviewer said, they don't really fit in a Southwestern-style soup, I don't think. I added a little cilantro, too. A great soup!
