"This is a quick and easy main dish. My kids don't even like cabbage, but they love this. I usually try to serve it with green beans, new potatoes, corn, and a pan of corn bread. They eat over half the pan every time. Also, the longer it stands the better it tastes."
Hmm. None of these ingredients are on sale today.

I saw this recipe on Facebook and now I see it here. I tried it today and added 3/4 cups brown rice and 1 1/2 cups more water. I used spicy diced tomatoes. I cooked it on top of the stove for about 1 1/2 hours on a simmer. It turned out so delicious. I serve it with sour cream on the side. I love cabbage rolls and this is a reasonable facsimile. There will be leftovers for lunches. Yum!
For more flavor, try replacing the plain tomato sauce with Campbell's Tomato Soup.
Excellent dish, does need more spice...added additional salt & pepper, along with some brown sugar. Cooked about a 1/2 hour longer than stated, to let flavors blend and to soften the cabbage a little more. Served on a bed of rice.
Only thing I changed was I added 1 cup of water and 1 cup of rice. This tastes just like Halupki's without the mess of boiling the cabbage and wrapping with meat and rice.
My family enjoys this recipe, but I add about 1/8 cup of vinegar & 1 tbsp of sugar to give it the flavor of the stuffed cabbage they love! Healthy, easy & delicious!!
I've made this dish several times. As written, I'd rate it 3 stars. But, I agree with the other reviews. It needs more spice. I added 2 teaspoons of sweet paprika and it raised my rating to 4 stars.
This was a very good recipe. However, I made a couple of adjustments. I wanted rice, so I added 1/2 cup of instant rice and added 1 cup of liquid. I try to use beef or chicken broth instead of water in most recipes, so I substituted beef broth in this case. My husband said it was better than rolled cabbage rolls. I agree, and I think the flavors blended better this way. I may never roll cabbage again.
Tried it last night - loved that there are no starches. Used diced tomatoes with green chiles and threw in a few crushed peppers. It was delicious. My skeptical partner loved it. I am guessing very few Weight Watcher points...
