These are simple and delicious. People who didn't know they like turnips loved these. They're also good leftover (and over oatmeal if you are adventurous!)

The term "medium" is a bit misleading I guess I bought large size and had way too much. really it translates to 4 cups of mashed turnip for the 1 quart dish. I also used half the sugar which wired out well.

I thought this was an interesting way to cook turnips, and it was quite tasty.

If you have someone that you cook for that cannot have sugar. Use Spenda 6 packs are enough. My mom can't have sugar. It turns out great. What a side.....

I don't think that turnips should ever be in a sweet dish. I will never make this again.

Pretty good. I didn't add much sugar, but it definitely needed some. Maybe just 1/3 cup would be fine. I don't think the egg does much though, unless you do two. So either do two or none at all.

I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if these flavors just didn't jive with my pallet, but neither my husband nor myself enjoyed this dish. It was a unique application for turnips, which we usually enjoy, but the end product was grainy, eggy, and a little watery. I think part of the problem was that the masher just didn't get the turnip particles small enough, so maybe next time I'll use a food processor or electric mixer. Also, I think I'll use an electric mixer to incorporate the egg, sugar, butter, and salt and really whip them all together until fluffy. That way the sweetness and texture will blend more.

This was delicious and a hit with my family. It is a forgiving recipe so add whatever vegetables you have leftover. I cooked up more carrots just for it because I like a lot of veg. Also threw in stuffing to get rid of it :-). As well, I have added a leftover broccoli cheese thing to good results. To balance the extra ingredients I just add more eggs and seasoning. I don't think you can overdo it with the eggs so if in doubt add it. I haven't yet tried it with the cinnamon sprinkled on (my family is not very adventurous with new things) but I'm looking forward to it.
