Used low sodium broth----what a great brine recipe! I used a bag inside of a cooler with ice in a cold garage overnight and made sure I rinsed the bird well since I am not a big fan of salt....was absolutely not too salty! I also added whole peppercorns to the mix.

I am not sure if it was this bring as I have never brined my turkey before, or if we had a bad bird, but our turkey did not taste good. I have never had a bad bird from this specialty butcher before, so I am going to blame the brine. It was not good and we paid $85.00 for the bird. Pretty disappointing.

I also doubled the recipe and used fresh herbs, and 1/2 apple cider & 1/2 homemade Vegetable Broth. We cooked a 20 lb turkey on the Weber BBQ and it took approx 3 - 3 1/2 hours to cook. This was the BEST turkey ever!!! I also brined the turkey neck and put it on the BBQ before we put the turkey on.....all I can say is I now have an appreciation for the the neck! WOW! Thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper!

My Step Dad told me this was the best turkey he had ever eaten. He doesn't give comments like that out very often. I changed thins up just a little. I used half vegetable broth and half apple juice. I also added some garlic which I'm a big fan of. I'll use this one again. I plan to give it a try with chicken and cornish game hens too.

My first time aver brining a Turkey, and this turned out excellent. The whole turkey was so flavorful and juicy. My mother in law even commented on how moist and good it was which is probably the first compliment on my cooking in 11 years.

A classic brine, one that I will use again and again. It's hard to find savory, and I've read that savory is close to both thyme and sage so not using it isn't going to hurt much. Use a low sodium broth. More and more stores are carrying low sodium product so you should be able to find it easily. All turkeys are brined so you don't want to go overboard on the salt content. Using a low sodium broth can help.

Used this recipe at Thanksgiving and it was awesome! I used a cooler with a clean plastic trash bag like a previous reviewer did. I will leave it in longer next time since I only left it in the brine 9 hours. This will be used at Christmas again this year and for Thanksgiving next year! Way to knock it out of the park on this one.

My entire family agreed that this brine created the best turkey we had ever eaten. Brining makes all the difference in the world. Turkey was juicy, flavorful and tender.

I used this recipe this year for Thanksgiving. The only change I made was I used 1/2 gal of vegetable broth and 1/2 gal of chicken broth, only because that is what I had on hand. It was the juciest turkey I have ever made. Awesome recipe.

I loved this recipe! This was the first time I have ever brined a turkey and will be using this recipe going forward. I had a 14 lb turkey which fit into my stainless steel stock pot perfectly; therefore, I didn't have to use a 5 gallon bucket as others suggested. It was cold outside so I left it on my back porch overnight. I used 6 cans of the veggie broth and all the other ingredients with the exception of the savory and I used 1/2 the salt. Needless to say, my turkey was JUICY and very tasty, it wasn't salty at all. I also put a stick of celery and an onion in the inside, put it in a turkey bag and the meat off the bones!!! It was pretty and brown, I also rubbed some butter on the skin as well. I got plenty of compliments. Will definiately use this recipe again. Thanks soooooo much.
