Really bland. After I made this, I kept trying to add different things to the leftovers to make it better. In the end, I added a lot of spices and poured it over rice. Probably won't make it again.

I doubled this and my family of 8 ate every last drop. In place of canned chilies, I used 1/2 fresh ancho and 1/2 fresh jalapeno. This pulled together quickly and we'll make it again and again.

Excellent, hearty soup. We do not care for lima beans so used an extra can of white kidney beans, Also added some diced red pepper for color. Overall, excellent meal and minimal left overs.

Really liked this soup! It made a huge pot, great for leftovers. Nice and hearty without being too thick. It'll be in the soup rotation for sure.

GREAT JUMPING OFF POINT! It's a personal thing, I don't love ground meat in my soups and I was looking for a good after-Thanksgiving turkey soup recipe. I used the broth and shredded turkey that I made from Thanksgiving leftovers instead of canned chicken broth and ground turkey. And I used canned black beans because I had them on hand instead of the beans this recipe calls for. I then sauteed the veggies and threw them in with the meat and broth and seasonings. Excellent! I also added a dollop of sour cream and cheese for garnish.

First of all, when my most picky child says I need to make this more often, It's an automatic 5 star! I had to make some substitutions thought because I realized I didn't have everything I needed. So, I used 1 can of creamed corn instead of frozen, and I used chicken stock instead of broth. All I had was light red kidney beans, so I used one can of those and about 1 1/4 cups lentils. I also added a good handful of frozen peas. After reading the reviews, I thought I would start w/ only 1/2 of the recommended measured spices thinking it would be too spicy for my children. After tasting it though, I added the rest of the spices..I think I could even stand more next time. It was mild..really nice. I sprinkled w/ cheddar cheese and served w/ easy speedy corn muffins from this site. What a hit! ( I forgot, I left out the green chilis since I didn't have any, which is probably why it wsn't hot or too spicy. I'll try it next time w/ them though!)

I was looking for a healthy soup to make with what I had on hand (a bag of 15 bean mix, a pound of turkey, some bacon, an onion and some frozen green chiles). This recipe did the trick. I did add a couple of slices of chopped bacon to the turkey and sauteed an onion in that. I omitted the celery because I didn't have any, only used half an onion, and used 3 roasted hatch chiles because I have a ton in my freezer! I also only had maybe a cup of frozen corn, so I added more beans instead. The soup turned out wonderfully hardy and just spicy enough. Definitley a keeper!
