This was fantastic! I made for my family and they demolished almost all of it. The only changes I made were to make in the oven. I had to double the recipe, so the stovetop way didn't work. I prepared the sauce on the stovetop, but the chops were made in the oven. Once they were halfway done, I poured the pineapple juice from the can over them, then the sauce. I let that bake for about 30 minutes, then I put the pineapple pieces in and let it bake for another 15 minutes. It was late, and I was baking on a high 425, so if you have time, you can lower your temp and lengthen your baking time for maximum tenderness (mine was tender though). I will definitely make again.

I didn't actually taste this recipe as I'm a vegetarian but I cooked it for my carnivorous husband and kids and they all really enjoyed it. The recipe was easy to make and was something different to do with pork chops. I made the recipe exactly as submitted. I also cut the fat off the pork chops before cooking so that my sauce didn't end up greasy.

Made this tonight for my picky sister. She really enjoyed the dish. I did add extra pineapple as she really likes them. Other than that I changed nothing. This dish is definitely a keeper and is now in my cookbook. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Delicious! This was a huge hit with my daughter and my husband seemed to like it too. A couple notes: I only had pineapple chunks so I chopped them up really small, instead of using tidbits. A quarter cup didn't seem to be enough, so I put in a little more. I still didn't think it was enough when we ate it, so I think I will use a half cup or more next time. I would probably also put more onion and garlic in it next time, but that's just my personal taste. :) Also, I served this with Thai yellow curry rice -- the smells were delicious, but the flavors didn't mix well, it made the dish taste too salty. I also tried the sauce over boiled potatoes though and it was delicious -- the potatoes just soak up the flavors.

Many years ago I was given the "sauce" part of this recipe and told it was good for chicken, turkey, or pork. Having lost it and remembering only some of the ingredients I am overjoyed to "have it back again". I use a can of Tropical Fruit instead - bigger chunks and even dried add apricots sometimes. Bless you for returning my all purpose sauce to me.

made this recipe as written and was extremely easy, but lacked flavor, hubby agreed. we decided not to add it to the recipe box. might try again then re rate it using pineapple juice instead of water.

I doubled the sauce and then halved it --marinated the chops in 1/2 of the sauce and grilled them. The other half of the sauce, I cooked down and used to put over them afterwards. I would recommend bone in chops everytime because otherwise they get to dry and tough. Great recipe -- not too sweet but still something different!

Takes a little while to cook, but relatively simple and tasty. Works with or without the pineapple.

I made this for dinner tonight and we all loved it!! I have 5 adults in my household and they said they wanted it again! The only thing I did different was I doubled the sauce and if I hadn't we may not have had enough for the rice and chops. Thank you for the new regular meal for us!

Over all this was a great meal. My husband who hate pinapple and anything that is not meat and potatoes LOVED this. I on the other hand thought that it was good. I added some pineapple juice while the pork was simmering. I think that next time I will use fresh pineapple instead of canned. The sause was really tangy but like I said it was good! I will be making this again.

This recipe tasted much different than the "tropical" flavor i thought it would have but was still very tasty. It was more a tangy flavor. All i did in the way of changes was i added a tsp more sugar and about 1/2 water 1/2 pineapple juice when simmering. Otherwise it turned out excellent. Also i used 1/2 c pineapples and that was everyones favorite part. I served over rice w/ corn. will make again.

I made one serving but kept the sauce amount the same. I ended up adding a little more garlic powder and also some teriyaki sauce. Turned out great - nice and sweet and soury. Thanks, Babineau!

This wasn't a bad recipe. I only gave it a 3 because it was a split decision in our house. Only my husband and son liked it. My daughter and I found that it was somewhat bitter tasting.

I have been in marital bliss for over a year now, but so far never managed to get into the kitchen. The reason? Hubby loves to cook and he is really good at it. Moreover, he is a finnicky eater and not easily satisfied. However lately he has been very busy with his work, so I decided it's about time to get into the kitchen... my first time EVER. Honestly, I mean it, I have NEVER cooked a meal in my life (not counting boiling an egg). And I was never nervous about it, how will my first meal turn out? Anyway, after this long introduction I will get to the point: Tropical Pork Chops was my VERY FIRST home made meal ever, and it turned out GREAT. It was really easy to make, what is more important, Hubby loved it (yay!). I look forward to cook again, in fact I told hubby tomorrow is MY turn again! Thanks for posting this wonderful recipe. I like this site.
