Marvelous! And so easy to make. My daughter and I whipped it up and even though she was filching cherries, it turned out beautifully. I substituted strawberries for the bananas and removed half of the juice from the mandarin oranges but it wasn't necessary - just a preference. It was served at a small dessert party and it was a huge hit. Some of the guests added Sprite to give it fizz and some others added a little alcohol while others just enjoyed as is. So versatile!

we had something like this all growing up. not able to find the recipe, i found this one is most like the recipe my mom used. i did not use the bananas, just a personal preference, and added strawberries! also, i used frozen lemonade concentrate instead of the lemon juice. other than that, i followed this recipe. turned out great. as we did growing up, after scooping the frozen fruit into a cup, we added about a 1/4 of a cup of squirt or sprite to it and made it into the real texture of a slushy! very sweet, but very good :-)

This must be a newer addition to AR because of only 2 ratings. This is in one word SPECTACULAR. Last batch made with Pine-Orange-Banana juice and I forgot the lemon. Great! Our freezer will not be without a large bag of this all summer long.

If I could give it 10 I would. I did make one adjustment while cooking.....I boiled the simple syrup took it off the burner, cooled it for about 10 minutes, then I added the frozen orange juice concentrate to it. It cooled quickly and I was able to finish up.

I made this recently and I followed the directions precisely. BTW make sure you completely cool the sugar water or it won't be semi-frozen (slushie) in 8 hours. Anyway, the taste was great melted or semi-frozen. Next time I'll drain the mandarin oranges first. I'll definitely be making this many times this summer, maybe with different kinds of fruit.
