This is one of the best cakes I have ever had. Not too sweet, and VERY moist!

I'm glad I made this! When pulling the cake out of the oven, I thought it was too dry. When adding all the milks, I thought that the cake could not absorb that much liquid. I put on the whipped cream topping. We had a Mexican birthday party at the international banqet. It was wonderful! We will be making this again!

I actually got this recipe from a friend and lost it but this one sounds the same going from my memory for the basic cake and icing ingredients. However i'll suggest some additions that make it the best cake i've ever tasted... try them you'll see what i mean. Instead of whole mile use coconut milk and i like to add a little coconut rum to both the milk mixture used to soak the cake in and the icing just a little to taste. then once you are ready to ice the cakes, add mandarin oranges between the layers and on top. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm delicious!

I took this to a dinner party and got rave reviews, especially from the hostess's husband. He apparently dreams of the cake. Personally I don't prefer the cake and had to drain off some of the milk since it would not soak in. But overall a good recipe!

Good cake and very easy to make. I poured half of the milk mixture on the cake (poked LOTS of holes with a fork) and then waited for it to soak in. Then I poured the rest of it on the cake.

Excellente! loved this cake, its exactly what I used to buy at the Mexican bakery in Ca. I had some friends over for a Mexican dinner and they all liked very much. I followed the recipe to a T, but I baked in a 9" round pan. Next time I am going to bake 2 cakes, let the bottom soak up all the 3 milks and then spread a strawberry filling (I love strawberries)and then put the other soaked cake on top and spread the cream/sugar topping. I can't wait to try it this way. I will keep you posted. Thank you for shring this exceptionally delicious recipe.

This recipe was such a hit. I took this to a mexican themed dinner party and I can not tell you how many compliments I got. I did take other reviewers advice. I baked the cake the night before, let it cool, poked it with over 200 holes, and let the milk mixture soak in over night. I also only used 3/4 cup of sugar for the frosting. All the milk soaked it perfectly and it was an absolutely delicious cake!! I will definitely make this again.

A nice, basic Tres Leches Cake, but not outstanding like the one I had from the Mexican pastelria. Better with the suggestions that other reviewers have made, like using 1 cup milk instead of 2 and cutting way down on the sugar for the whipped cream frosting. We really liked it best when the middle was filled with raspberry preserves...don't know if that's traditional, though. Also, there are not 4 types of milk in this cake, only 3...heavy cream is not considered a "milk" since there is no protein in it.

This is the first Tres Leches Cake I have made and so far it looks FABULOUS! I did separate my eggs and beat the whites... but when I went to add them to the "flour mixture" as suggested, they had separated into foam and whites, so it was rather gooey, but the cake batter turned into a cake! I cut the top off to make it flat and have been dipping the pieces into the milk mixture, and that's tasty, so I can only imagine what this is going to taste like in the morning!!! Yay!!!

This was a fantastic recipe. My family likes to eat this cake barely thawed from frozen. So cold and refreshing! It was a hit at our dinner party.

I made this much easier and healthier. Use white cake mix and bake two 9-inch rounds. Poke holes on top of the cooled cakes with a fork. Mix 2 cups of 1% milk, 1can condensed milk, and 1 can 2% evaporated milk. Pour over cakes, cover with foil, and refrigerate. When ready to serve, layer one cake with light Cool Whip, stack on the second cake, and add another layer of cool whip. Throw some fruit on top like strawberries, bleberries, and raspberries. Done.

I made this cake to finish off a special Latin-themed dinner for my husband last night. Since it was just the two of us, I halved the recipe and baked it in an 8x8 pan. After making the batter, I wasn't sure how the cake would turn out because it was a little on t
