I chose this recipe not because the salad was particularly inspired and certainly not because it called for a basic oil and vinegar dressing either. What did catch my eye, however, was the addition of the chives and thyme. I had some homemade lemon vinaigrette leftover, and added the season's first chives from my garden as well as the thyme. Added even more than the recipe called for and Hubs and I both loved it.

Loved it! Added some cukes too and prepared balsamic vinegar and olive oil in the ratio 1:3. Great!

Very good and very simple. My grandmother and great aunts used to made this all the time to go with dinner. They used to add some chopped cucumber and red or sweet onion. They also used to add a little white sugar to the oil and vinegar salad dressing.

This is an incredibly basic salad recipe and is a good starter. You could easily add a lot of other ingredients to suit your tastes and make it your own. I prefer to keep dressing on the side, as any leftovers get pretty soggy sitting in the dressing.
