This is a really good recipe. I have made it several times and my husband would have me make it several times a week if he could! To make it more "hardy" I added about 1/2-1 cup of beef flavored TVP (I'm vegetarian)- tastes great!

Just not for us. Tried it out, but my husband and I didn't like it. Pulsed it in the blender to get a smoother sauce, but even with some extra hot sauce in it my husband didn't want to eat it.

This was really easy and so cheap to make! One recipe makes enough for 8 oz dry pasta, double it for a whole lb. Like others, I pureed my sauce to make it smooth, but is also really good "chunky". I used half and half instead of cream (because that's what I had). This sauce is also awesome as a base for a baked ziti - just sub ricotta for the cream, top with cheese and bake! Here's a tip: if you want to skip the pureeing step but like a smooth sauce, start out with a can of crushed tomatoes instead of diced.

Incredibly good and so easy to make! I doubled the sauce and used half and half instead of cream. The only thing I added to thicken it was a 6 oz. can of tomato paste. I will make this again and again. With recipes like this, there's no need to buy jarred sauces!

My sauce seemed a little too runny and chunky, and not really saucy, so I added a small can of tomato paste. It was swell.

husband said it was restaurant quality. I added two chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces for the last few minutes of simmering (chicken was cooked 95% of the way before adding it to sauce). Very quick to make so a good go to recipe when in a hurry.

There is a lot of basil and a lot of onion in this sauce...but not so much sauce. Added a can of tomato sauce and this helped a little. Will try using two cans of petite diced tomatoes, more half/half and extra garlic next time. Won't double the onion or basil though. Enjoyed it last night with crumbled italian sausage and was quite tasty.

Was really really delicious. The only thing I noticed is that there was a lot of onion in the sauce which is fine with me, because I like onion but for others you might want to cut the onion a little. Also I used fresh basil instead of dried.

Very delicious. I followed the recipe exactly except I doubled it & I used 1 cup of 18%table cream, 1/4 cup of butter & 2 tblsp of flour to thicken. Turned out great & didn't take away from the flavor. I also added mushrooms and diced chicken. Will make this a regular dish when I want something different from a typical alfredo sauce.

Quick and easy, also very good. I did make a few additions: 1/3 cup roasted red peppers & 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms. I didn't have any heavy cream, so I used 1/2 cup fat free half and half & 2 Tblsp. 1/3 fat cream cheese. Will definitely make again and share the recipe with friends.

Inspired by SunnyByrd's photo, I pulled this out of my recipe box and gave it a try tonight. I've collected so many recipes that some of the best ones (like this one) often get overlooked. This was absolutely wonderful - very easy to pull together and very filling. I would definitely serve this to my dinner guests. I followed SunnyByrd's lead and served this with shrimp over fettucine. Only change I made was to increase the garlic to 3 cloves. Simply scrumptious! Thank you so much for posting this recipe!

Super simple, tasty and budget friendly. The best part my kids loved this and i do mean love it!!Thnx much will be making again and again.Next time i will throw in some zucchini & maybe spinach. This is so versatile and if u find it a little bland just up the herbs, ect according to your taste.Oh i did top mine with some shredded provolone that needed to be used up.Great Saturday lunch or a quick week night dinner served with salad and some garlic roll's!! Yummy!! *Side note* If you do not have the cream no worries!!This sauce taste really good even before you put the cream and butter in.*UPDATE* I just finished making this again for lunch. This time i did throw in some chopped fresh spinach, grated carrot & Zuchini..Yum!! My kid's gobbled it right up and didnt even notice that the veggies were in there :))

this was easy and fabulous! best of all i got to use my fresh basil and oregano that i have been growing. i used 2% evaporated milk in place of the heavy cream, blended it with an immersion blender and added a touch of cornstarch to thicken it up. super delish.

Nice light flavor! Did double the garlic but other than that stuck to the recipe. This was a favorite with everyone here and we will be making it again.
