This was very good, just not quite 5 star. Very simple to prepare. Like others, I cut the onion in half, increased the garlic, reduced the butter quite a bit and used fat free cream. I think next time I will omit the butter, not sure that it is at all needed, and also cut down on the oil. I pureed in blender. Very nice everyday sauce.

This sauce was a hit at my house! Husband, sister and her boyfriend all raved about it. A million times tastier than the crappy packet mix ParmaRosa I used to make, ha ha ha. I used twice the amount of tomatoes and twice the amount of cream (used half & half). Oops, I also used margarine instead of butter. Oops, and added four cloves of garlic and a sprinkle of freshly ground dehydrated garlic...and a generous amount of fresh pepper. I found that the sauce didn't want to thicken up after the cooking time given but I ended up leaving it simmer for about 20 minutes and it did somewhat. It was still a bit runny so I served it in shallow bowls to avoid spills. What a delicious, economical, versatile recipe...the addition possibilities are endless--sausage, beef, chicken or just veggies. Ohhh, how about as a sauce for lazy ravioli or lasagna! I served it over pasta, of course, to which I added two stalks of chopped celery and half a chopped red pepper. Sprinkled cheese over top. Served with biscuits dipped in garlic butter before baking. Thanks for sharing...I'll be making this often!

I loved this recipe. I added chicken meatballs and I mashed the tomatos with a fork because I'm not a big fan of chunky tomatos. It turned out great :) I loved the sweet creamyness of it.

Really good! I used fresh tomatoes and chicken broth instead of the canned tomatoes, and just used milk and sour cream instead of heavy cream. I will make this again, it was very good! I served it over chicken.

This is a really good recipe. I have made it several times and my husband would have me make it several times a week if he could! To make it more "hardy" I added about 1/2-1 cup of beef flavored TVP (I'm vegetarian)- tastes great!

Just not for us. Tried it out, but my husband and I didn't like it. Pulsed it in the blender to get a smoother sauce, but even with some extra hot sauce in it my husband didn't want to eat it.

This was really easy and so cheap to make! One recipe makes enough for 8 oz dry pasta, double it for a whole lb. Like others, I pureed my sauce to make it smooth, but is also really good "chunky". I used half and half instead of cream (because that's what I had). This sauce is also awesome as a base for a baked ziti - just sub ricotta for the cream, top with cheese and bake! Here's a tip: if you want to skip the pureeing step but like a smooth sauce, start out with a can of crushed tomatoes instead of diced.

Incredibly good and so easy to make! I doubled the sauce and used half and half instead of cream. The only thing I added to thicken it was a 6 oz. can of tomato paste. I will make this again and again. With recipes like this, there's no need to buy jarred sauces!

My sauce seemed a little too runny and chunky, and not really saucy, so I added a small can of tomato paste. It was swell.

husband said it was restaurant quality. I added two chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces for the last few minutes of simmering (chicken was cooked 95% of the way before adding it to sauce). Very quick to make so a good go to recipe when in a hurry.

Quick and easy, also very good. I did make a few additions: 1/3 cup roasted red peppers & 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms. I didn't have any heavy cream, so I used 1/2 cup fat free half and half & 2 Tblsp. 1/3 fat cream cheese. Will definitely make again and share the recipe with friends.

There is a lot of basil and a lot of onion in this sauce...but not so much sauce. Added a can of tomato sauce and this helped a little. Will try using two cans of petite diced tomatoes, more half/half and extra garlic next time. Won't double the onion or basil though. Enjoyed it last night with crumbled italian sausage and was quite tasty.

Was really really delicious. The only thing I noticed is that there was a lot of onion in the sauce which is fine with me, because I like onion but for others you might want to cut the onion a little. Also I used fresh basil instead of dried.

Very delicious. I followed the recipe exactly except I doubled it & I used 1 cup of 18%table cream, 1/4 cup of butter & 2 tblsp of flour to thicken. Turned out great & didn't take away from the flavor. I also added mushrooms and diced chicken. Will make this a regular dish when I want something different from a typical alfredo sauce.
