my cake was a little dry. Would definately make more of the marscapone filling next time. Followed recommendations to add more coffee to make 2 layers coffee and one without. It was impressive to my dinner guests.

Made this for a party and everyone raved! I followed a few suggestions others have mentioned: 1. I made 2 coffee flavored cake layers and one white layer. 2. I doubled the amount of coffee added to the batter and the amount of Kalua added to the filling. 3. I made the cake layers the night before, refrigerated them overnight and then assembled the next morning to help keep the cake from falling apart during assembly. 4. My cake didn't look as even as I wanted it to be, so I drizzled ladyfingers with the coffee mixture and lined the cake with the coffee drizzled cookies. It looked beautiful and tasted great. 5. I added some shaved chocolate in between the cake layers to make the cake a little more "chocolatey" If I were to do it again (and I'm sure I will), I would do it exactly the same - it turned out great!!

This was really good. It takes a little while to make even with the boxed cake recipe, but it was fun. I had trouble with the topping, it never seemed to get fluffy enough and ran off at the cake a little. I didn't want to beat it too long, but probably needed to go longer. It seemed funny that my teenage son didn't like the coffee in it, because he is the only person in my family that drinks coffee. The recipe to make mascarpone I found in the reviews helped, because you can't buy it in the small town I live in. I will be making this again, often.

I thought the flavor was good (especially the frosting and filling), but the cake to me seemed more like "cake" than an authetic tiramisu.

Wow!!!!This is the best cake I have eaten or made. My husband and I have both worked at some of the best eateries in downtown Chicago and this cake takes the blue ribbon. I read the other reviews and made the following changes. I made two layers coffee, I doubled the coffee liquor in the filling and frosting , I double the instant coffee diulting it in about a tablespoon of hot water and finally I used 3/4 cup of coffee and 1/4 of coffee liquor to pour over the layers. Make sure that when you bake the layers of box cake the bake time is the the shortest time recomended on the box.(like 20-25 min. bake 20 min. no more) I still can't believe that I made the cake it was that good!

We love this cake. I followed the recipe to a "T" and it tasted great. Dividing the cake into thirds is a little tricky...my layers were not quite even. But the taste is wonderful. I will make again, but next time I will add a little more coffee to the cake batter and more liquor as the coffe flavor was subtle. But, since that is personal preference, it didn't affect my rating.

Awesome! Doubled the coffee/kaluha mix for the cake. Did 1.5X the kahlua on the filling and frosting, and I think anymore would've been too much for my liking. Also, did 3C of whipping cream and added 2 more TBSP of Powdered sugar to the frosting to make sure I had enough.

As far as taste goes, this was so good! I love tiramisu, & wanted to try this for my birthday. I wasn't disappointed at all! I didn't over-do the cake soaking, but I actually like it like that - not too mushy. The only problem I had was with the frosting - no way did mine look like the picture, & it was pretty runny & hard to manage. I put a bit more powdered sugar in & that helped a little. Still, well worth the hunt for mascarpone (finally found it at Target, of all places, in the deli section)!

I have made this cake several times now and I always get good feedback. My husband LOVES it! I have rushed through the recipe and "messed" up, but the results were still delicious. My advice is to read each step carefully as you go. Don't wing it from memory.

Tasted good but everything was RUNNY. I followed the recipe exactly. I don't get it. Thank goodness I made it for dessert on soup night so I could just dump it into a big bowl and call it a soupy dessert.
