So disappointed by this recipe. I really should have trusted the reviews. I did make one change, and that was to add a cup of peanut butter to the crust. This was the only good part of about these brownies. My daughter and I made them together and wish we could have gotten back the time we spent on making them. Not worth it. The brownie part was lacking in any flavor and the icing was bland. I'll be removing this recipe from my box immediately.

The crust was salty, the brownie itself was not chocolatey nor was the frosting. The 1/4 tsp salt made both first 2 steps salty and I used salted butter and see it doesn't call for unsalted. I'm afraid I won't be making this again.

Double the sugar add 3 tablespoons coco powder and add one third more butter in the crust and you have a tasty treat every one will love.

The brownie part was delicious. I personally could have done with out the bottom crust. For some reason mine caved in toward the end of baking, I prob over mixed the batter. But, they were still great in taste, I was picking on them all night. I only gaveca 4 star because the crust wasn't doing it for me. Also, for the frosting you CAN sub the butter out, I used peanut butter, came out great :)

Brownies turned out yummy.. A little salty at first but after having one they were addictive. I will make again and my reduce the salt to 1/8 on each layer. Thanks for posting..

Even though these are bit of work to make, the end result is delicious and they are very pretty when cut. I only rated 4 stars because for me, they were a bit sweet (although this was not a complaint with my kids) and I felt they were a bit too much work for a brownie or bar type of dessert.

I just finished making this recipe and eating my first piece. It is great, although I did make some substitutions simply because I realized I didn't have the chocolate AFTER I started making it! I made the crust like suggested(with slightly more butter), but added about 1/3cup baking cocoa. Then I made another brownie recipe I like(very similar) that calls for baking cocoa instead of chocolate squares. Finally, I made the frosting like suggested, except I melted white chocolate and added 1/8 cup baking cocoa. It turned out so yummy! The only thing that bugs me is that the crust does not hold together. I guess maybe a little more butter next time since I added the cocoa. Goes to show that a great idea is still great even with variations!
