Something lovely happens to brown sugar when it gets hot and bubbly. For this pie, brown sugar combines with milk, eggs and butter and becomes a rich, gooey butterscotch. This thick, creamy filling is poured into a pie shell and baked. It 's absolutely fabulous with dollops of whipped cream.

Brown sugar and a few other ingredients are cooked slowly in a double boiler until thick and golden, then the mixture is poured into a baked pie crust. A meringue is whipped up and spread over this sweet, creamy filling, and the whole pie is baked until the meringue 's peaks turn golden brown.

You 'll agree that this one 's the easiest. All you do is stir sour cream with sugar and fruit cocktail, plop the mixture into a pie shell, and bake. That 's it.
