I also used 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar per pp suggestions. This was very yummy and was gone in no time!

Darn close to the Better Homes and Gardens 1950's recipe my family has made for years. Great flavor, dense and moist, but a little sweet. I may reduce the amount of sugar next time from 1c. to 3/4c. I added 1c. of chopped walnuts to the batter and sprinkled a few more on top before baking. I divided the batter into four mini loaves and baked for 40 minutes. I would definitely make this recipe again.

This is a good basic recipe. However, I made changes and got rave reviews. I took some advice of others and used 1/2 C white sugar and 1/2 C brown sugar and also added cinnamon. I also reduced flour to 1 1/2 C and added 1/2 C old fashioned oats and then sprinkled a few on top before baking. I made mini muffins. They were so good and didn't last long. I will make these again and again. It's my new banana bread recipe.

This recipe is good but it needs a few additions to make it the best. I added a 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of chopped walnuts, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamin, and a half of package of instant vanilla pudding(keeps it moist). This seems like alot but its really not and it turns a good recipes into the best.

I've made this recipe many, many times. It's absolutely delicious as stated. However, don't even bother making it (or any other banana bread) if your bananas aren't super ripe. It makes the bread extremely bland. I know, because I rushed things at Christmas and ended up with a dozen bland little mini-loaves. (By the way, this recipe makes 4 mini loaves.) Also, the margarine is a good idea, as it keeps the bread more moist than butter would, so don't substitute. I've tried making this bread with 1/2 brown sugar, but found that the difference in flavor (as long as the bananas are ripe) did not warrant the additional measuring. This recipe is so good, and so easy, that I have memorized it from making it so many times. =) It makes me feel like a grandma with a special heirloom recipe that no one would believe is actually really easy!

This was my first ever attempt at banana bread! I actually made muffins because I didn't have a loaf pan. I added chocolate chips and used the 1/2 white, 1/2 brown sugar. I forgot to add vanilla, nutmeg or cinnamon like some other reviewers suggested, but I didn't miss it. I may add it next time. I did cut the cooking time to about 40 minutes. They were crispy on the outside and nice and moist on the inside! I will make these again when I have leftover bananas!!

I tried the recipe with applesauce instead of butter, and added rum... It's very bland! Maybe next time I need even darker bananas, vanilla, cinnamon, real butter and less flour. Sorry, but it didn't do it for me!

Deliceous. I followed other reviews and used half white, half wholemeal flour and half white, half brown sugar. I also added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. I didn't measure the bananas as I had 3 small over ripe ones that needed using up. Only needed baking for 50 minutes in my oven. Thanks for this great tasting and easy to make recipe it is already a family favourite.

I'm not a very good cook, but I found this recipe easy to make and wonderful to eat. I did take previous users' advice to bake it with 1/2 cup of white and 1/2 a cup of brown sugar. I also sprinkled chopped walnuts on top. Yum!

I made a couple of changes- used 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1/2 c. white sugar. Also, I probably ended up using about 2 cups of bananas. This is a keeper!

I also added vanilla, raisins and cinnamon. Tip: don't let the pan over flow of you will have a mess in the oven, and lots of smoke ;)

Delicious. Mild banana taste; not overpoweringly sweet like banana bread sometimes tastes. (Perhaps it was because my bananas were not overripe yet.) Great -- I just added in some chocolate chips at the last minute.

I thought this was a great recipe! It makes a dense, delicious bread. I realized we were out of butter and so I followed a previous poster's suggestion and used a single serving of applesauce and a bit of Haitian rum. It came out great but very sweet.
