since I was a little girl I have always loved spoon bread. I make it on sundays with ham dinner. For those who thought it a little bland and butter wasnt cutting it, I use a mixture of butter, pure maple syrup and a bit of brown sugar and it is delicious!

When my husband wants something extra special Sunday morning, he'll longingly inquire if I have time to make this delicious Spoon Bread recipe. We both enjoy it so much. Thank you Mildred.

Really good and as the author notes it's a great side with soups and stews especially but anytime you want a nice bread side to go with a side and main dish. As one person noted, really good with beans or chili ON it as well.

I've never had Spoon Bread before. This was something different but enjoyable. I think a bit eggy and bland which is I'm sure how it suppose to be, just butter doesn't do it for us. There was a lot left over so my husband and I have taken some spiced up beans and spread those over it. Very good way to have what is left!

This was my first time making spoon bread and it was good. I added a little extra sugar. My husband was reminiscing about his grandmother's spoon bread and was wishing to have some. I surprised him with this recipe and he loved it.

I made this and it was a hit. My daughter thought it tasted like grits but better. There were a few lumps but nothing that a whisk couldn't handle.

This recipe was good it could be sweeter and next time I will add chili powder and red pepper for a kick and also I added the corn meal in the milk all at once so it was kinda lumpy but still good just remember to slowly stir it in

My bread turned out with a slimy eggy top and a thick untasty corn bread on the bottom. I didn't mix the corn meal w/the milk while it was simmering and I possibly beat the eggs too stiff? That is all I can think of!

OK, I have never had Texas Spoon Bread before so I have nothing to compare this to, but it was really good. I am allergic to gluten so I was looking for a recipe along the lines of corn bread without any wheat flour. This was the recipe that fit the bill. It was so good! I served it with Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo from this site. It'd be good with any soup or stew. Mmmm... I'll be making this one again! Thank you so much!!!! It is really hard to find bread recipes that I can eat.
