This recipe uses only half of what 's in your spice cabinet: chili powder, mustard powder and garlic powder are mixed up with paprika, oregano and brown sugar. It smells wonderful and adds such a great flavor to grilled meat.

Pull out your spice drawer and get ready, because there are a heap of herbs and spices in this one: garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, coriander, savory, thyme, basil, bay leaves, cumin and brown sugar. Rub on the meat, chill overnight and grill.

Dry rubs can be as successful as a liquid marinade, and add wonderful flavors to meat or poultry with very little effort. This rub has herbs, sugar and powdered mustard, perfect for chicken or pork. Make up a few batches and give them away as gifts.
