I was so impressed with this recipe. I used 2 lbs of chicken legs and put them on low for 7 hours, then on high for the last hour. The meat was falling off the bone and it was so delicious. I didn't have any lemon, but next time I will be sure to add it as I think it would be a nice addition. I served this with broccoli rice casserole (it was an O.K. combo - probably not the best). I would recommend this recipe to anyone.

I thought this was really good but next time I'll leave out the lemons, I didn't like the citrusy tang it gave them. After 7 hours I shredded it and left it for another hour. We made sandwiches for a picnic with it.

Awesome recipe!! I didn't have any lemons, so I added about a quarter cup of lemon juice, and I substituted Diet Coke for regular. My boyfriend said it was a little bland at the end, but after I added a bit of Cajun seasoning, he said it was absolutely perfect!

Easy and delicious! I had approximately 5-1/2 pounds of chicken thighs and drumsticks, and I own a 6-quart slow cooker, so I used 2 bottles of barbecue sauce (Kraft Honey Hickory Smoked), 2 onions, 2 lemons and 1-1/2 cups of cola. I let it cook for the maximum time of 10 hours. The meat was so tender that it literally came right off the bone. My oldest son and I agreed that the flavor was more smokey than barbecue, but it was a good flavor that was absorbed into the meat. I was a bit skeptical about not browning the chicken to crisp the skin before placing it in the slow cooker (I'm not a fan of rubbery chicken skin), but I found there was no need to worry, because the skin came out very light and tender--I hardly noticed it was there.

the taste was pretty good, but somehow the meat seemed dry...

I'm not big on bbq but my husband loved it and I really enjoyed it. I did leave out the lemon like others suggested but I may try it next time, I also put it on high and it dired out a little so I will leave it all day on low next time :)

AWESOME. I ran out of onions and had no lemons, but I wanted to try the cola and bbq mixture. I mixed it up and poured it over 12 skinless chiken thighs and slow cooked it all day. It's JUST GREAT.

Feeling lazy! Then try this recipe. When you leave for work, place this in the crock pot -- and when you return 8 hours later, you will return to a house smelling like home cooked comfort food! I did add carrots as suggested by Tia, and didn't add the lemon. I served with rice and cornbread, mmmmm mmmmm good! I will DEFINITELY make this again. Thanks for the great recipe!

The chicken was wonderfully tender and the sauce was delicious. I used a blend of Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory and Regular bbq sauces and mixed in a bit of Heinz Garlic bbq for the garlic taste. I used minced onion instead of a whole onion and no lemon. I used 4 boneless/skinless chicken breasts and shredded them at the beginning of the last hour. At that point I also added about a cup of water to thin the sauce and added green beans, yellow beans and carrots. After the last hour of cooking on high, I served it on a bed of rice. YUMMY!!

This was really good! I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts and omitted the lemon slices. One hour before serving I took the chicken out of the slow cooker, shredded it, put it back in the slow cooker and added more barbecue sauce to wet it down. This was great for sandwiches! Thanks for the post.
