As a fellow teacher, I agree this recipe is easy and yummy! I omitted the lemon and added garlic per other reviewers advice. I used 4 chicken breasts cooked on low for over 9 hours (I was at work) then shredded chicken(it literally fell apart with the touch of a fork). Served on Sun Dried Tomato Wraps with cheddar cheese. Saved left overs to make BBQ Chicken Pizza the next nite. (Cilantro and Jalapenos make a nice addition to both the wrap and pizza).

Good recipe for shredded chicked sandwiches! I added minced garlic and used lemon juice rather than slices... Shred the chicken about an hour before serving. VERY TENDER!

I found this was a simple, tasty slow-cooker recipe, which I think is hard to find. The chicken needed more seasoning b4 going into the cooker than the recipe lets on, so I seasoned both sides of all my pieces with salt, pepper and adobo (garlic salt mix). Also, some had complained about the watery sauce that you get so much of with this recipe. There is no real trick here, you just need to take off your chicken skins. I leave two pieces w/ skin on since I like a little chicken fat in my gravies. All in all, this was a perfect bbq slow cooking chicken recipe that was very tasty.

Chicken was very tender and moist! I had about 5 lbs of chicken leg quarters I wanted to do something with. I didn't have a lemon so I subbed a Tbsp of lemon juice. The hubby devoured it. I let it go closer to 10 hours than 8. My legs were very big and I'm not sure if they were thawed in the middle. Will surely make this again. It made the house smell so good, too. Thank you Jacqueline!

This was a fantastic recipe! I used Hunt's BBQ (was all I had on hand) and 7 thighs (our least favorite piece). After 5hrs of cooking on low, I shredded the meat and cooked it for another hours. My family raved over the sandwiches! Their only complaint was that there weren't any leftovers!

We have made this at least 2 or 3 times now in the past few months. I usually add a little extra coke and bbq sauce, and omit the lemon slices. It is perfect for long work days, it is so easy and great to have ready when I walk in the door. It is so tender and juicy, it just falls right off the bone. Next time, I will add some extra onion because we always fight over the onion chunks.

First of all 8 hours is way too long. The chicken was over cooked. The sauce was too thin. It still has possibilities though.

This recipe turned out very well. I used a whole cut-up chicken and it was totally falling off the bone. The only problem is finding the meat amongst all the bones. Very easy recipe though, and great on sandwiches the next day.

This was really good! I used boneless/skinless breasts instead & the meat was so tender it basically crumpled right off. I think I may have over-did the BBQ sauce, but it was still yummy! I will just tone it down the next time I make it. Plus ...it was so easy - barely any prep time - perfect for an on-the-go mom!

This was great! I used 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts and 1.5 lbs thighs, jack daniels bbq sauce, diet coke (all I had), 1/2 lemon juice, added a jar of chili sauce, a dash of worsh. sauce, lots of garlic, and some italian seasoning. I cooked it on low for 9 hrs and left the lid open for the last 2 hrs to let it thicken up. The chicken completely fell apart and I served on buns like a sloppy joe. I will definitely be making this again! UPDATE 12/14/08: Made this agin and this time used only chicken thighs, chopped the onion and added a few dashes of habanero hot sauce. Even better!

This was OK... I used drumsticks and the meat fell off the bone and kind of made a soup. I cooked on low for 10 hours and I'm sure that was too long?

For 2 people: I put 4 drumsticks in my 2 1/2 quart slow cooker. I did use a lemon; when you cut the recipe in half it is only about 3 slices of lemon and half the onion rings. I had it on low for 5 hours, last hour on high. I did put it in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 just to brown it a bit. While the drumsticks were in the oven with a bit of sauce, I added cornstarch to the sauce left in the slowcooker. This was spooned on the chicken at time of serving. It was good and tasty, tender enough without totally falling apart. I served it with corn on the cob and biscuits.

I was so impressed with this recipe. I used 2 lbs of chicken legs and put them on low for 7 hours, then on high for the last hour. The meat was falling off the bone and it was so delicious. I didn't have any lemon, but next time I will be sure to add it as I think it would be a nice addition. I served this with broccoli rice casserole (it was an O.K. combo - probably not the best). I would recommend this recipe to anyone.

I thought this was really good but next time I'll leave out the lemons, I didn't like the citrusy tang it gave them. After 7 hours I shredded it and left it for another hour. We made sandwiches for a picnic with it.

Awesome recipe!! I didn't have any lemons, so I added about a quarter cup of lemon juice, and I substituted Diet Coke for regular. My boyfriend said it was a little bland at the end, but after I added a bit of Cajun seasoning, he said it was absolutely perfect!

Easy and delicious! I had approximately 5-1/2 pounds of chicken thighs and drumsticks, and I own a 6-quart slow cooker, so I used 2 bottles of barbecue sauce (Kraft Honey Hickory Smoked), 2 onions, 2 lemons and 1-1/2 cups of cola. I let it cook for the maximum time of 10 hours. The meat was so tender that it literally came right off the bone. My oldest son and I agreed that the flavor was more smokey than barbecue, but it was a good flavor that was absorbed into the meat. I was a bit skeptical about not browning the chicken to crisp the skin before placing it in the slow cooker (I'm not a fan of rubbery chicken skin), but I found there was no need to worry, because the skin came out very light and tender--I hardly noticed it was there.
