This is one of my favorite recipes ever! Definitely go for the chili paste, not the powder. It adds something special. Added a smidge more pesto the second time around to balance the chili paste a bit more. Several people have asked me for this recipe - this is outstanding!

A REAL KEEPER!!! after reading several reviews I made a few changes that suit my tastes; when cooking the chicken I added a TBSP of minced garlic, then after the chicken was just about done I added 8oz of sliced fresh mushrooms. From there I followed the recipe exactly, and added toasted pine nuts for presentation. I really couldn't taste the cilantro but it added nice color. I'll keep it in the recipe as it came out so good removing anything could mess it up. This recipe is perfect for company, as you can cut / measure everything in advance and then in 15 minutes (while enjoying a glass of wine) you can prepare this in front of everyone and they will be impressed!!! Cheers!!!

Delicious! A keeper! My (sometimes picky) husband and guest loved it. I did kick up the spices a little, as we love savory, spicy, strong dishes. I added extra cumin, chili powder, pesto, and some garlic powder. I also couldn't find chili paste at my local grocery store. The chili powder didn't have enough depth of taste (or kick) to it... so I added a tiny teaspoon of adobo sauce (from a chipotle chili in adobo sauce jar) to it. Perfect! Not too spicy, but oh so flavorful!

We absolutely loved this pasta. I had a ton of homemade pesto and was looking for ways to use it up, but next time I'll make the pesto just for this dish. We used about half a bag of Quorn vegetarian chicken in place of the real thing, and it worked perfectly. We also added halved cherry tomatoes, which really complemented the flavors. The chili paste that we had in the fridge was Thai, and it had a sweet undercurrent that worked well.

three people I made it for loved it and wouldn't change a thing. I, on the other hand, didn't think it was flavorful enough. way too bland for my tastes... I think more chili paste and maybe 1 tbsp less oil would be good for the next try.

this was fantastic! an instant hit in my house. I used a jalapeno flavored olive oil for cooking the chicken, to try to spice it up. If you really like things spicy, I'd add more hot pepper paste, ours (although really tastey) came out pretty mild.

This is absolutely delicious! The only chili paste i could find was the oriental chili paste in the international isle in the market, and it tasted great actually! I also did what other reviewers did and added goat cheese at the end and i think that really made the dish, it made it really creamy. I'll definitely make this again, even my picky boyfriend who doesnt really like pasta loved it.

Loved it. Did not change a thing. Will definately make again. I am going to try next time with hot curry paste instead of chili. Wish me luck.

AWESOME and easy recipe! I need to figure out how to give it a tiny bit more flavor, the spice was good. I did add a can f mushrooms, next time I think I will add fresh large portabella mushrooms.

This was amazing! I added two minced cloves of garlic to the chicken while it was cooking, and half a minced shallot. Nearly doubled the chili sauce as we like it spicy! When the chicken was nearly done I added a chopped zucchini and half a chopped green pepper for added nutrition. Served with pine nuts on top and shredded parmesan cheese. Delicious!

Fantastic! I used the "Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto" recipe for the pesto (but I modified it to substitute half of the parm. cheese with Romano and substitute the Brazil nuts with all pine nuts). I used Romano cheese in addition to the parmasan cheese, and it was so delicious! Thanks for the recipe; I will most definitely use it again!

I made this as directed & thought it was pretty good. I could find chili paste but did find roasted chili paste. We didn't think that it was that spicy. I will increase the chili paste next time.
