This is a nice, basic cookie recipe. I added a bit more flour and baking powder, rolled and flattened the cookies prior to baking, and added a few minutes to the bake time, and the flavor was delicious. Nice and light, very easy, and not too sweet.

Simple, tasty, and full of potential. I made them with margarine but they still tasted incredible. And all I could think was: they'd be perfect to make "strawberry shortcake cookies" or iced cookies or glazed cookies or .... I am so excited by having this canvas!!!

I will admit I had no butter and had to substitute (even though it was recommended not to) something else. I used the Smart Balance sticks and chilled the dough. They came out GREAT! I will make this again! I used my small muffin cup silicon to make them just had to add a minute to the time. Next time I make them, I'll try some nice icing or a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar.

WoW! I normally don't rate recipes but this one is AWESOME. Simple, delicious...reminicient of Madelines. You could put them in a cockle shell mold and its a beautiful treat for tea parties. Will do over again and again, thanks!

This was a super easy recipe for sugar cookies! Not so sure y they're called tea cakes, but they are delicious. The batch makes about 5 or 6 DOZEN cookies, so add about 30 minutes to prep time!! I put royal icing on them and that was great too. Fantastic cookies, thank you!!!

Very nice, it was quick and easy to make. Was craving something sweet the other night and came across this recipe. Didn't have to run to the store and get additional ingrediants, everything was all ready in the pantry. I will be making this again.

Delicious cookies! I chilled the dough to make it easier to handle, then rolled it into small balls and flattened with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.

These are wonderful! Reminds me so much of my grandmother. I used to beg her to make tea cakes. I also tried a variation with a little lemon extract and they tasted like the old fashioned lemon cookies we used to get from the bakery. Thanks!!

I have earned undying gratitude for reproducing "real" teacakes for a friend thanks to this recipe, thank you, I'm passing that gratitude along! I can be horribly lazy, so my 2nd batch I just rolled into balls and flattened a bit and they were simply fantastic, and SO much quicker.

Very good. Like a moist sugar cookie. Instead of just dropping the cookies I liked them better when I rolled them into a ball and kind of pressed them down a bit. Easy recipe too! Will make again and again.
