Slow Cooker Manly Stew

This stew is hearty and makes a great brown gravy. It is my family's favorite! Serve over garlic mash potatoes or egg noodles. We like to spice the potatoes up with a little hot sauce.

My favorite meal in the Philippines is Salpicao. Beef cubes are sauteed with lots of garlic and a little bit of hot pepper sauce. I recently came up with this interpretation of the recipe, which immediately became the family favorite. Don't let the garlic frighten you: the taste becomes milder as it cooks. Serve with steamed rice.
