I tried this recipe with cream of chicken soup, and half of the french fried onions mixed into the sour cream/cheese/soup topping. (Like another reviewer suggested.) It was pretty good! I think I will try it with the cream of mushroom soup next time. My father enjoyed it immensely, and asked for me to make it again in the future. Thanks for the recipe!

I am constantly trying meatless versions of my favorite foods so I can introduce them to my vegetarian girlfriend. Well, she absolutely LOVES this recipe! I thoroughly enjoyed it as well, but it's just not the same without the ground beef! It is a very good compromise, though.

This was really good! The only thing I did differently, was to add some green beans just to have a little bit of vegetable. Will be making again.

I actually find myself craving this. I made it as written and it was a little bland, so I usually add a little garlic powder or Tony Chachere to the sour cream mix before I spread it on top of the tater tots. Strangely, it's fantastic with some garlic chili sauce (the one that's kind of like sriracha, but w/ visible chili seeds in it).

I didn't think this dish tasted all that good. I used Cream of Celery soup, as someone had suggested, and only half the onions. It tasted like tater tots with sour cream and onions on top; no blended taste.

My three picky eaters loved this casserole! I liked the quick prep. I added about a cup of chopped rottiserie chicken breast that I had on hand and a cup of frozen green beans. Like other reviewers, I added about a half cup more cheese.

We loved this! This was part of our make ahead menu for a weekend get-away to the PA mts. Our place has been winterized so no water for dirty dishes. I made this at home along with some crock pot chili.I left the onions off till the last 10 minutes of cooking. It was so good with chili, beleve it or not! Good left-over too! I may try adding browned ground beef and green beans for a one dish meal and doubeling the sauce.

Awesome!! I have a hashbrown casserole recipe that is similar to this, but this is sooo much easier to make and tastes just as good, maybe better. Definitely one of my favorite comfort foods.

Reminded me a lot of a baked potatoe except using tater tots. I had no problems with soggyness or anything else I just threw it together baked it for an hour and viola it was perfectly done :) I did add bacon bits on top to give it even more of a baked potatoe type taste and I used cream of chicken instead of mushroom just becasue of personal preference :) very filling and satisfying for me and my husband :)

After reading the reviews I cut down on the sour cream and added a little extra cheese. I added bacon bits to the top (I'm a vegetarian, but the kids are not so bb was the compromise!) I also used minced onion flakes instead of the ff onions b/c that's what I had on hand. I think it would taste better with fresh chopped onions and some veggies too. Overall I liked well enough, and 2 out of 3 kids absolutely loved!

I really liked the taste of this, and it was easy. The tatertots I used were extra crispy but we kind of mushy. I added to much salt. I will try to make it again

Good, but next time I will use less sour cream and more mushroom soup. Made it taste too much like a stroganoff.

So good! I added just a little garlic powder to the mix and used an extra 1/2 cup of cheese. There was a little too much sauce for my taste, I think the sour cream should be reduced by about a cup.

NOTE: My rating is based on the modifications I made as follows: 1) I didn't have the fried onions so I used about a cup of raw onion diced and added it to the sour cream/soup/cheese mixture. 2) I ended up almost doubling the cheese and put some of it on top of the casserole before baking it. 3) I let it bake an extra 20 minutes This recipe was better tasting to me than the traditional cheesey potatoes we make using southern style hash browns. I was surprised at this and at how the tater tots break apart into smaller pieces so that the cheese/soup/sour cream mixture blends in throughout the casserole.

I thought this was pretty good. But my husband loved it. I'm only giving it a 4 b/c it was pretty mushy. Also, my taste buds might have been off when I made it b/c I had a sinus infection. I'll make it again w/ the extra crispy tots!
