Fair. The sour cream and mushroom soup were overpowering even after doubling the cheese. I only had half a bag of onions and it turned out that the bits with the onions were the best part so that may have been part of the issue.

This recipe was delicious. Although I recommend cooking it for about 2 hours at 350 degrees to get the tots nice and crispy. I also added half an onion and tsp of pepper for extra flavor.

This recipe didn't really do it for me and my family. I followed the recipe exactly... I baked for an hour at 350 degrees and the middle of the casserole was just warm. This recipe was also lacking in flavor.

I made this for a group while we were on vacation. Everyone loved it! You could add cooked sausage or bacon if you wanted it to be a complete breakfast casserole. I made it as listed with the addition of a little more cheddar cheese and I used the seasoned tater tots. You could spice it up really easiely. I am going to make it for a cook out next time. Thanks for sharing. This one is a keeper!

This is great! We are not big onion fans, so my husband recommended using crumbled bacon in its place next time I make it. Sounds like a good idea!

This recipe is ok. You really have to be careful with the taters or they will not be crispy enough.

This was an excellent recipe! Instead of the usual tater tots, I used the smaller coin sized tater tots. I also added a pound of ground turkey like others suggested.

I made the recipe "as is" which is why I only give it 3 stars. It was just okay... a little bland, and while I don't like mushrooms, I love greenbean casserole at the holidays so I thought I would like this too. It just didn't do it for me. I think I will try this again but make it "mexican" style by substituting the mushroom soup with cheese soup and adding jalapenos, black beans and corn. And probably use only half a can of onions... a whole can was just too much.****UPDATE**** OMIGOSH, tatertot casserole is sooooo good with the substitutions I made. I didn't add black beans, but I did use cheddar cheese soup mixed with corn, jalapenos, half the amount of sour cream and cheese, and some taco seasoning. It was soo delish. Also, I sprinkled crushed tortilla chips instead of frenches onions and sprinkled more cheese on top. This is a great alternative to those who don't really like mushrooms!!

I LOVED this recipe! I didn't use the french onions b/c I couldn't find them in the store. So I used shredded cheese instead as the topping. I also only used 1/2 a container of sour cream. I took the dish to work for a party and it was devoured in less than 10 minutes! They were scraping the dish and everyone was commenting on how awesome it was and asking for the recipe! It was such a hit, I'm actually taking it this Sunday for our Easter dinner! :) YUMMM!

I made this tonight, adding a small, eyeballed amount of black pepper, italian seasonings, minced garlic and garlic powder (we LOVE garlic in this household!). I cut the sour cream in half, as suggested by other reviewers, and added some half & half to thin the sauce up. After 50 minutes in the oven, the sauce mixture on top was piping hot but the tots on the bottom were still cold, so I had to mash it all up together and pop it back in for another 25 minutes. Next time I think I will brown them slightly before cooking. Otherwise, the recipe was a hit! Very flavorful.

My family LOVED this recipe and my husband added it to his all time favorite side dish! I served it as a side dish and I followed the recipe closely only adding more cheese, a little garlic powder, and bacon bits to the mixture. The results were wonderful! Thanks for a great recipe!

Great recipe...my family loved it. I added cooked ground beef on top of the potatoes and extra cheese on the top of the soup mix because I didn't have the ff onions. I also cooked it at 425 for about 40 min. yummmyyy I will make again.

This turned out really well, however I did make some changes. I added 1 pound of browned ground beef, I used cream of chicken soup with 1/2 the amount of sour cream called for, a splash of milk, 2 cups of cheese instead of one, and I threw in a packet of Onion soup mix. I think it turned out a tad salty, so next time I make this I will use 1/2 packet of soup mix. I was the only one who said it was salty, so maybe it was just me. Kids and husband loved it. Hard to find something they all eat, so this is nice!

I took this to a neighborhood gathering and let me tell you, it was the only thing that completely disappeared! More of a comfort food than healthy dish, this one really delivers when it comes to flavor. I made the recipe as written and will continue to serve this one time and time again.
