This was super easy and we really enjoyed it! I added a can of Mexican style corn and layered it differently. After draining the beef/onions I stirred in the soup, milk and corn. Put that in the casserole dish topped with a layer of tator tots then topped with cheese last. The tots stayed very crispy that way. This had wonderful flavor and I will definitely make again!

This was a little bland as written. I added garlic to the meat and added some green beans in. I also put the cheese under the tots so they'd stay crispy. I still feel like this needed more kick. Next time I'd season the beef a lot more. I'll make this again with some additional modifications.

I used cream of chicken instead of cream of mushroom. Very easy, simple, and good tasting.

Only changes made were to mix ground beef/onion mixture and soup/milk mixture and then spread it on the bottom of the pan. Then I sprinkled a little cheese, then did the layer of tater tots, and sprinkled a little more cheese. Tater tots came out crispy and yummy. I always make this in a 9x13 casserole rather than the square 2 qt casserole. It still comes out great. Kids love it too. Next time I will try adding a layer of green beans on the bottom as others have suggested, just to get that veggie in!

Very good. I use cheddar cheese soup because my husband doesn't like mushrooms.

Very good! my toddlers especially liked it. The first time I made it I thought it was a little bland but the second time I made sure to season my beef really good.

We didn't have some of the ingredients (including the tator tots!) but we wanted to give it a go anyway. We started by baking a bag of waffles fries at 450 for 20 minutes. Then we browned the beef with onion, garlic, salt and pepper. We prepared a blend of: 1 can cream of mushroom soup, about a cup of medium heat queso cheese sauce and about 1/4 cup milk. We added that to the ground beef, as well as a can of mexi-corn. We put the meat mix in a 9x13 pan and topped with lightly salted, baked, waffle fries. We baked it for 5 minutes (it was already hot), topped the fries with a bunch of shredded cheddar and baked for another 5 minutes. It turned out really good. I think the queso sauce adds the just the right amount of kick! Sorry for butchering your original recipe, Charlie, but we appreciate the great idea. The kids especially loved it!

Can't really eat this if you're on a diet, but it's a great go-to recipe for feeding kids! How can you go wrong with ground beef, tater tots and cheese? And, it's ready in a snap. A guest made this for us once, and I thought I'd give it a try, too. I see a number of ways to spiff it up, but it has a great base.

This is delicious, warm, and filling. A must have for a cold day. My family loves it, even the picky eaters. I often mix in a package of frozen veggies.
