Great idea and recipe! I made a few changes based on my preferences 1) I used beef buillion instead of chicken to give it more of that ground beef flavor 2) I added slightly more cumin (I love cumin though)until it tasted perfect to me 3) We prefer soft tacos so I used wheat tortillas 4) I used 4 chopped zucchini in addition to the lentils to add a bit more nutrition (and to clear it out of the frig) and you really couldn't even taste them in the mix Overall: A tasty meal that is very satsifying and good for you! Thanks for the recipe.

Can we say "Fabulous!" My hubbie has hard core meat cravings, and I've been doing a lot of meat replacements lately. He still loved this-- even though he usually doesn't like chili seasoned foods-- it was packed with flavor! Yum!

This was one of the best lentil recipes I've ever found!! I also added some dill too, which I think made it even better...definitely a good dish for everyone.

Update* - I noticed a lot of people having issues with the cooking time or texture of the lentils - another reviewer pointed out that you may have "old" lentils - but also, consider cooking lentils like cooking rice - you can't expect an exact figure every time, more like a guideline - and when in doubt, just cook 'til done. IMO, it's just not cool to take off a star for what should be covered under basic cooking common sense.* Followed exactly (*oops, almost - subbed out a mixture of canned beef consomme & water for chicken broth) & loved every bite! But I expected to. What I didn't expect was my kids & husband to like them as much as I. In particular, I should mention that my husband is a dedicated carnivore, and one of my kids "HATES beans" (she doesn't like the texture), so I was afraid these would be a hard sell. I made them with the frybread from Fry Bread Tacos II and HIGHLY recommend these together.

Didn't come out as I expected. Very mushy and not very much taste. Might give it one more try with a lot of variation because I like the idea.

This is an absolutely awesome recipe! My husband and I would rather this than ground beef. Even my 3-year-old and 1-year-old ate it all up!!

I loved this dish! So tasty! The only change I made was to add a 1 tsp of smoked paprika. It added a nice earthy smokey flavour. I ran out of tortillas so I used my leftovers as a filling in a pita sandwich with loads of fresh veggies and home made tzatziki...hmmm

This is the best low-fat recipe I've found that the entire family loves. Our 14 year old son requested these tacos for the second time in a week.

A great vegetarian meal. I make these regularly. We also use the lentils to top lettuce (we like spinach) and then we include the other ingredients for a taco salad. Tasty and healthy!

This is a great alternative way to get nice healthy legumes onto the table. The taste is wonderful. I've made the recipe twice, and both times the results were outstanding.

I enjoyed the fact that I was eating lentils but I don't think I'll make this recipe a standby. I'll try halving the cumin next time, and perhaps use a different type of lentils.

I was not the biggest fan of this recipe, but on the other hand my husband loved it. I think one of my issues was that the lentils took forever to become tender, and I didn't add any salt as I had been warned that it can make bean take much longer to cook. They still seemed too firm for me and I was not able to mash them slightly as suggested. I also did not particularly car for the seasoning on the lentils and wished that I had used a prepackaged taco seasoning mix instead. I found a different recipe through epicurious.com and will probably try that one next time instead of making this one again.

Like most everyone else, I was really skeptical about this. I kept having to "psyche" myself up that this is good for you. I used a little bit of taco seasoning along with the seasonings called for. I was able to get pre-cooked lentils from Trader Joe's which was nice..and we were not disappointed. These were really good! My fiance said he wants to never go back to eating ground beef tacos again. They kind of taste like beans and beef are mixed together. Yum..I think I want some right now! Thanks for sharing such a great, healthy recipe.

I wish there was more flavor here. I followed the recipe as written, but I definitely think there is room for improvement.Overall,I'd say it went pretty well. My daugher would not even try it, but my hubby really enjoyed it. I'll make this again, and maybe add a bit more seasoning. Thanks for an interesting and nutritious recipe!

This was quite good. Made it as the recipe instructed and it was too spicy for my 1 and 5 year olds, but my husband and I enjoyed it on nacho chips (no tacos in the house).
