This is one of the best lentil recipes around! I am a vegetarian so I substituted vegetable broth for the chicken broth. I also used olive oil and a whole jar of salsa.

These were awesome! I realized while I was making these that I had run out of chili powder, so I added a packet of taco seasoning. I also used vegetable broth, as I was preparing this for vegetarians. They came out fabulous, thanks for great recipe.

We really, really liked these! I think the hard taco shells are key, they pair nicely with the lentil mixture. I used homemade canned salsa which added a lot of great flavor. I will definitely make these again, thank you! :)

The kids liked these a lot, which is always good. They said they liked the "meat" and I wasn't about to tell them differently. My husband had a little bit of a hard time getting used to it. But he did. Very good thanks!

These were surprisingly really good. I agree with others, the crunchy shells is a must! I also mixed in a cup of veggie crumbles I had left over. It added some extra texture.

I omitted the salsa to the mixture because it was pretty wet already. I spooned some salsa onton the taco's themselves. Will definitely make again.

Wow! Filling & delish! My husband, skeptical of all things that don't contain "meat", loved them. Had to cook the lentils a little longer...and use a slotted spoon so it wouldn't be soupy.

The basic recipe is good, and I will probably make it again. But, I'll have to increase the spices a lot next time. It was a little bland for my tastes. I made them as written and served with Best Black Beans from this site.

The basic recipe is good but I found I had to add a lot more spices to get it to a flavor I liked. I think this would be much better suited toward a burrito. But it's good in a pinch when you have a taco craving and lots of leftover packaged shells but no ground beef.

I used veg. broth, but next time might just use water, because this was plenty flavorful. I tried using corn tortillas, but this recipe really needs the crunch. So I used the leftovers to make taquitos. Rolled up in corn tortillas held together by a toothpick, sprayed them with cooking oil on a baking sheet and baked at high temperature for a few minutes. They were really good with guacamole.

These tacos were exceptional! My husband had no idea what I was making for dinner and he came in while it was simmering and commented that it smelled absolutely delicious. They tasted even better than they smelled. He couldn't believe there wasn't any meat in it. My 2 and 3 1/2 year old daughters gobbled them up as well. We actually served them on the fry bread from the fry bread taco's recipe that someone else mentioned in their review. I mixed the lentil mixture with a homemade salsa made with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, garlic salt and chili powder pureed in my blender. Scooped some on the fry bread, topped with a little cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, avocado and a touch more salsa. My husband said this is one of his all time favorites. Next time I make it, I think I'll save some calories by skipping the fry bread, as delicious as it was, and heaping mine on top of a bed of lettuce for a rocking taco salad. I'm sure these lentil taco's will become a regular meal in our house. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!

Great idea and recipe! I made a few changes based on my preferences 1) I used beef buillion instead of chicken to give it more of that ground beef flavor 2) I added slightly more cumin (I love cumin though)until it tasted perfect to me 3) We prefer soft tacos so I used wheat tortillas 4) I used 4 chopped zucchini in addition to the lentils to add a bit more nutrition (and to clear it out of the frig) and you really couldn't even taste them in the mix Overall: A tasty meal that is very satsifying and good for you! Thanks for the recipe.
