Woweee! I would have never guessed I could make a homemade tarter sauce that tasted this good! I didn't really measure anything, just whooped up all the ingredients and my husband ate the entire dish with his salmon. He was scraping the bottom of the bowl! I don't eat seafood, but I slapped a bit on my steak and it was fantastic! Thanks for this simple and very delicious recipe!

Great and easy recipe!! My son would always buy tartar sauce from Rafferty's restaurant but not anymore. Just make sure you make ahead to give the onions a chance to set. Thanks, Southern Charm

A great, simple tartar sauce recipe! The resting period is a must, the tastes really have a chance to meld after a couple hours. Excellent!

Awesome. My husband and Father-in-law loved it. I used onion powder instead of minced onion and just squeezed some lemon juice in it. I thought a tablespoon or 2 would make it to runny. And I used more than a tablespoon of relish more like 3 to 4. A tablespoon didn't seem like enough... Definitely a keeper. Won't be buying tartar sauce anymore. This recipe is too easy... THANK YOU!!

Yum-o...Great basic tartar sauce. I've made it per instructed and with modifications. I prefer to use dehydrated "Real-Lemon" powder instead of lemon juice (it makes it less runny) and I double pickles (at least) but drain them on paper towel first, again so that it is not runny. I have also used horseradish instead of onion which gives it a different, but not unpleasant, taste. Leaving it to marry in the fridge is advised as it really brings the flavors together.

This recipe was hailed "best I've ever had" by my son, the tartar sauce junkie. I did embellish to make it unique. I put in a bit more pickle relish, didn't have lemon, so I kept my fingers crossed and it was fine. I added green onion and a few finely chopped fresh chive. Also, I have a beautiful mix of Green Goddess dressing mix from Penzey's Spices - I added a tsp of that. WOW!!!! Sooooo good, I must admit. A great basic recipe to create your own signature tartar sauce. Thanks for sharing!

This was just so-so for us. I tried it as is, but ended up tossing it--then I doubled the relish and used half the lemon juice the second time around. It was better, but still a bit bland for my taste. Might be better with Miracle Whip instead of mayo for the flavor factor.

It was pretty good. Make sure to mince onion really small, and maybe even add 2 more tbsp. of relish. I thought this made it taste less like mayonaise, and more like tartar sauce. I also added as much lemon juice as I liked for liquid consistency. I did not use the full 2 tbsp. because it comes out a tad too runny for our liking.

This recipe is great. I used Smart Balance Mayo because it's half the calories and still tastes like mayo. I did add a couple of tablespoons of sour cream and doubled the relish (I used pickles), lemon juice, and onion. I also added a tablespoon of capers. You have to let it sit for at least an hour. I tried it right after I made it and it tasted like mayo which is why I doubled all the ingredients. Then I let it sit for an hour and tried it again and it was fabulous. I probably didn't need to double everything. I'll never buy jared stuff again!

This is a great recipe for tartar sauce. I used sweet relish, but in place of the lemon juice I used dill relish, and in place of minced onion I used onion powder and it was delicious! I made the sauce for a family wedding and got raving reviews!

I don't understand why everyone is so in love with this sauce. Yes, it's easy, but it is also rather bland. I used twice the amount of relish, and then poured some pickle juice into it as well to try to give it some flavour.
