Tangy Cranberry Sauce

"This zesty sauce is a favorite of all our family and friends. It's simple to make, and good with the turkey or on leftover turkey or chicken sandwiches. Adjust the amount of horseradish to taste."

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place cranberries and water in a medium saucepan. Over high heat, cook until the cranberries burst.
  2. Lower heat to simmer. Stir in sugar. Continue cooking 15 minutes.
  3. Allow mixture to cool. Stir in horseradish. Chill in the refrigerator until serving.

My husband does not eat sugar, so I used honey for the sweetener. This was a terrific addition to our Thanksgiving dinner. Even my spice intolerant friend enjoyed the tang of the horseradish!

I used two cups of sugar and a little less horseradish. But this is a great recipe if you want to try something different this year!!!

This was a request from a friend who said his mother used to make it for Thanksgiving. When served, he said it was just like hers.
