Taco Seasoning I Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 6)

I just tried this recipe to make my tacos. It was delicious!! I used half the crushed pepper that was called for since I'm a wimp. It had just the right amount of kick without being too overpowering. The hubby agreed that this will be our new favorite.

I've got to throw in with the lovers! I made the full recipe and added 2 t cornstarch to more equal the packet that I USED to use. Then I divided the mixture in half, and added it to 1/2 lb cooked ground beef (I was making a small batch of tacos for lunch) along with 1/3 C water (2/3 C for the whole batch as per other suggestions). It cooked up "saucy" as I'm used to, and I thought it had a nice kick -- not too spicy, tho we eat spicy in this household. And I, too, am never going back to packets! Thanks for this!

This was every bit as good as the seasoning mix I usually buy at the grocer.

Absolutely delicious! I was making a bigger batch of it (no more store bought with added sugar, additive & preservatives)and ran out of cumin. So basically I only had about 25% of what recipe called for. I then added a little cayenne pepper. It turned out perfect for me...Some bite for sure, but not super hot. Just how i like it.

I don't know why I've not rated this yet because I ave used this recipe for several years now. It is the best. The only thing I do different is I use about 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of cayenne instead of red pepper flakes. I never buy taco seasoning anymore.

TIP: add 3 tablespoons of tomato paste to 1 lb ground beef and 2-3 tablespoons of this taco seasoning, and a splash of water til you get the right consistency. The tomato paste makes a huge difference.

We were preparing a Mexican themed rehearsal dinner for our son and needed to make lots of chicken and beef taco meat. Found this recipe for taco seasoning and was very pleased with the flavor it gave the meats. It was better then my previous recipe for tacos! EDIT: Also added this seasoning to a Black Bean Salsa Soup I made today and it added a great flavor to that as well!
