I found myself panicking when I had everything for soft tacos but no seasoning! I tried this out (minus the red pepper because I was feeding a toddler as well :) and it was dee-lish! Hubby, who is super picky, also liked it. I found that one batch as written was perfect for a little over one pound of ground meat. I plan on making a big batch of this and storing! yum!

Excellent! So much cheaper than using the prepared brands and much better tasting! I like to make a bunch at one time and keep it in my spice cupboard. Thanks for an awesome seasoning!

Hands down this stuff is a million times better then the pre-packaged stuff. I keep a jar in my spice cabinet. Thanks so much.

Very good! I have used this recipe now for a year. No more packeges for me!!! If you want to turn this into a Chicken Fajita mix, just add a spoon of cornstartch to it. Allows it to thicken and stick to the chicken.

I think this recipe is great! I had to cook 20 pounds of taco meat for a birthday party and didn't want to spend the $ on season packets since I knew I had all the spices at home. Found this recipe and it worked well. I quadrupled the recipe per 5lbs. of meat and took out a bit of salt. When the meat was brown, I added 1 cup of water (for 5lbs. of meat) and the seasoning and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Food was being made for the next day, so it sat in the fridge overnight and blended all the seasoning just right. It tastes great and the heat factor is dead on. Thanks!

If you really want it to taste like the packaged stuff, you have to add more salt. But this has a great flavor that beats the package hands down.

This is excellent. It's nice because you can control all the ingredients, spice, and the amount of salt! The best taco seasoning recipe I have tried!

Best taco seasoning mix I've ever had! I also substituted 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper for the red pepper flakes. I will never buy store bought packets again!

It's a bit spicy for us, so we make a mild version by cutting back on the chili. But, I always keep it on hand and never buy taco seasoning anymore. We also use this in the Seven Layer Taco Dip from this site.

This was delicious and definitely a recipe I will begin using often. I used it in the Burrito Pie recipe on here a few weeks ago and it was excellent. Tonight I used it for tacos and it was once again excellent. I cooked up the ground beef and drained it, then added it back to the pot with 2T. spice + 2/3c. water (roughly) per pound of meat and simmered for about 20 minutes before serving.

Tasted perfect! I added a bit of cornstarch to some water and added it to the beef to make it a bit thicker. No need to buy the pouches from the grocery store anymore!

This worked really well for my ground turkey tacos. I used the entire yield of the recipe as written with about a pound of meat, and it was perfect - very flavorful. I intend to prepare this in a larger quantity and keep it on hand so I don't have to make it every time we have tacos.

Very good. Who knew it was so easy? I added a bit of corn flour and cornstarch, but dunno if I needed to. Will definitely make lots of it to have on hand for taco night.

I would give this 10 stars if I could! I can't even remember the last time I used a packet from the store- never again! This is wonderful with ground beef, ground turkey, or cubed chicken breast, and I also use it to season things like rice and beans or tortilla soup. Thank you, Bill! :)
