I wanted to make tacos, and nacho for dinner, but I realized I had no taco seasoning. This is a very good recipe, though I wish I read further on some of the reviewers, a few were not that crazy about it, a little too spicy for them. Most however loved it, and said I can forget the storebought anytime. Thanks for saving the dinner for me.lol

Perfect Taco seasoning! I used a very small amount of Cayenne Pepper (about 1/16th tsp) instead of the red pepper flakes. Thanks!

I don't think I'll ever buy packaged seasoning again. These are spices I always have on hand. I use about 3 T. per pound of meat. There is a little left over, but I just save it until I make it again. I cut back on the salt a little.

Best taco seasoning! I brown and drain the meat and add the meat, seasoning, and 1/4-1/2 c of water and cook in the crock pot for a few hours.

As others have stated, I will never buy packaged taco seasoning again! The flavors are great and the seasoning is not too salty. Thanks!

Like most who review this recipe, I ran out of the packaged seasoning and turned to this trusted web site for help. Found it with this recipe! Thanks so much for sharing! Very yummy!! I did follow some suggestions: used dry onion flakes when I browned the meat (something I always do) so I deleted the onion powder; didn't have red pepper flakes so I used a scant 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper; and added 1/2 c. water when I added the mixture to the meat then let it cook til the water was gone. This recipe is defintely a keeper!!

I accidentally didn't buy the taco kit so I was kind of stranded, and I decided to head to my favorite cooking site and got exactly what i expected! A great seasong with fairly common household spices, One thing I really enjoyed about this was that it wasn't "gravy like" with the kits. Just meat, seasoning, vegetables and condiments. Thinking of making a jar as I usually make tacos every tuesday! 4.5 STARS

This smelled just right. I think it could be even spicier but some hot sauce could take care of that. I'm happy to find an MSG free solution as well. Thanks!

Haven't bought the package stuff in ages...this is better and cheaper considering most people have the spices needed on hand.

I don't know if I'll ever use a packet again, not that we ever loved them. My husband also loves this, LOTS of flavor, watch the red pepper if you don't like heat!

I found this recipe after realizing I was out of seasoning packets. Wow, no more taco seasoning mixes for me! I used extra garlic and onion. Instead of paprika, I used extra chili powder. I also added about 1/2 cup water and it turned out perfect. Thanks for the recipe!
