Awesome recipe! I loved it and so did the kids - even the picky one! Here's what I did: I used a 9 x 13 glass dish. I sprayed it with cooking spray. Lined it with the crescent dough and went up the sides of the pan too. Baked this for 13 minutes. Cooked the meat and added one can of ro-tel mild and the taco seasoning. I could see using venison or ground turkey next time. The flavor with the ro-tel is what really came through. I only used 8oz of lite sour cream and even that was alot. Depending on how much you like s.c. you could cut back on it. I used 8oz of mexi-cheddar cheese - alot but perfect - gotta have the cheese! I used half a bag of nacho Cheese Doritos. I baked it another 10 minutes. I would recommend using at least a 9x13 pan. I'm not sure what size square cake pan was used by the lister of this recipe but I wouldn't be able to fit all of this in a 9inch square. EXCELLENT - 5 STARS - IT'S A KEEPER!! (can't wait for leftovers for lunch!)

OMG so easy so quick. My cousins and I cooked this and it was done in no time. Excellent recipe. I do suggest that you add lettuce and tomato and all of the other taco fixings, it will give the dish the right type of balance (in my opinion w/out the fixings it's too heavy. All in all very good dish!!!

This was a really good dish. The only complaint I have is that after being in the oven the tortilla chips lost their crunch; they seemed stale.

The "square" cake pan seemed to be too small. I used a 9X9. Maybe the recipe really means a "rectangular" 9X13 pan.

Great flavor! Good idea to cook the creasant rolls 4 minutes less than actual time. I spread the dough right around the edge of the pan for side crust as well. A nice change...I put some chopped steak in a crock pot and cooked it with the taco seasoning and a 2/3 cup of water for 4 hours on high or 8 on low. I don't care for ground beef, so the meat is tender and tasty in the pie. You can use lean meat, f.f sour cream, f.f refried beans, low fat cheese and their are even light crescent rolls out there. It tastes just as good!

We loved this and is very kid friendly! I made some changes but this is such a good base recipe and the cressant rolls make a real good crust, I added a layer of warmed refried beans and a layer of salsa. Saved the sour cream for on top when served. Makes great leftovers for lunch at work! This is a keeper and will be made again for sure!

I can't believe it! I finally found a recipe that my whole family loves! Even my extremely fussy 27 year old son who won't eat anything had 2 helpings and would have had more except that we ran out even though I doubled the recipe! I did incorporate a couple of the changes that others have suggested. I took the crescent roll crust out just as it was turning brown, before it was totally baked. I left out the sour cream because my son doesn't care for it. I used the big and flaky Pillsbury crescent rolls and put them out in a 9x13 pan. I doubled everything else in the recipe. I served it with sour cream and salsa on the side. 6 adults ate the pan full and could have eaten another full pan full because everyone liked it that much! I will be making this often and it will be a really quick, easy dinner to make when I get home from work too. Thanks so much for this recipe. It is very versatile and extremely YUMMY!!!

I made this recipe for a luncheon and got nothing but great compliments and copies of the recipe. I followed one of the other reviewers and incorporated white chedder salsa, ranch style beans and doritos as the topping. Thanks for the recipe!!!

I found this recipe in a cookbook many years ago and have been using it ever since. My family loves it. I use the taco seasoning and add a can of chilies to it and salsa also. I usually make two at a time because it goes so fast.

Well for starters I made this as written the first time and it was really pretty good but, I started to think of how it would work best for my family and be lower in fat. With my changes I make it twice a month now. I use reduced fat crescent rolls. Brown ground turkey throw in the taco packet and a can of tomatoes with green chilies. Layer that on top of the already baked crescent rolls. Then I throw in a drained can of both black beans and corn. Top with cheese then bake. Everyone in my house loves it and we don't even miss the sour cream (I'm not really a fan) or chips.

My fiancee and I love, love, love this recipe. I make it all the time and it always goes fast. We add a little salsa for some extra flavor and sometimes extra meat. The cresents give it a good flavor. I had something like this a long time ago and could never find it. Its so easy and delicious!

While this is very quick and easy, and it is a perfect go to meal when you're in a hurry, it was a bit bland for the tastes of my family. I will be keeping this one to try again, but I'll have to jazz it up quite a bit.

This is better if you jazz it up with extra ingredients like refried beans or black olives.
