Original Recipe Yield 3 cups
 

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Directions

  1. Melt the butter in saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the onion, and cook until tender. Mix in ketchup, cider vinegar, water, apple juice, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, molasses, honey, mustard powder, chili powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
