SUBMITTED BY:
Rena Malek
"This recipe is a summertime favorite. We fix it often on our portable grill when we go boating. My husband thinks it's great. It's the sauce that makes it!"

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan, combine the first five ingredients; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat; cool. Set aside 1/2 cup for basting. Place remaining sauce in a large resealable plastic bag; add shrimp. Seal bag; refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Drain and discard marinade. Thread the shrimp, green peppers and mushrooms alternately on six metal or soaked wooden skewers. Grill, uncovered, over medium-hot heat for 2 minutes on each side. Turn and brush with reserved sauce. Continue grilling for 4-8 minutes or until shrimp turn pink, turning and basting several times.

Made this for my daughter and her friend for Sunday dinner. They said it really didn't have much taste. I did marinate for 1 hour, skipped the green pepper and mushrooms (their preference). Will keep looking for a good shrimp marinade recipe.

This was really good...but than again shrimp made in anyway is OK in my book! I basted liberally during grilling process. YUM! Do not overcook the shrimp! 3 mins on each side, set on high came out perfect for me. (depends on size of shrimp as well)

I love this recipe! I add red pepper, yellow pepper, red onion, zucchini, summer squash, and pineapple chunks to the skewers and to make the sauce easy, I just mix 1 cup of sweet and sour sauce from a jar with the pineapple juice reserves from the can - I use the sauce to baste shimpe and veggies before, during, and after cooking. It's easy, healthy and delicious!!

My whole family loved this. It was raining so I just used the broiler in the oven to cook them. I just laid them across a couple of pans so that the drippings would fall into the pan. Delicious!

This is a great tasting, yet simple recipe that anyone could try. I didn't have the pineapple preserves, so I used apricot preserves instead, and it still was great, we will be making these shrimp all summer long!

Quick, easy and has a nice flavor. Cook the skewers with some rice, which made for a filling dinner.

This was very good! The BBQ flavor is pretty strong, though, just as a heads up. I skewered fresh pineapple slices with the shrimp and also made my own crushed pineapple, which made the sauce pretty tart. FYI - the sauce isn't very good on rice. The rice needs something else...

Very easy recipe for shrimp. The entire family loved this recipe. We added mushrooms, chunks of pineapple and cherry tomatoes to ours. Very good flavor.

This was FANTASTIC! I only made a few minor, minor changes. I made two batches of the sauce instead of one. I used one batch entirely for marinating. I used the second batch for basting. Also, instead of marinating for 30 minutes, I marinated the shrimp for 4 hours. The shrimp were awesome!

I made this for my dad's family of 17 and they loved it! Some of them are allergic to shrimp so I marinated shrimp and chicken. The other reviewers were right, the key is the marinade. I suggest skewering meat and vegetables separately to avoid the yucky delimma of vegetables burned to a crisp and raw disgusting germy chicken.
