I didnt have food coloring, so I used 2 TBL of ketchup and added 3 TBL soy sauce to the sauce. I used the what it called for for sugar and vineger...it was too sweet for me, so I added 1/4 cup more vineger. I also added 1 onion ,cut into 1"...only had AP flour, so I added 1 1/2 teas baking powder and 1/2 salt to flour.thanks for sharing

This tasted wonderful and was FUN and EASY to make!! I noticed that the chicken took aprox. 5 min in the oil and make sure you drop the chicken in one by one so that they cook evenly. My Family thought this was WONDERFUL! Good with fried or white rice. Thank you for the recipe...we will be making this again and again!!!

This tasted every bit the same as one of my favorite restaurants recipe! The only things that I changed were adding a little bit of pureed pineapple to the batter (only about a tablespoon worth) and putting a chopped green pepper in the sauce. My family thought this was well worth the prep/cook time to have this dish! Thanks!

Good. I could have handled more sweetness; but the hubby would prefer less. I'm the 'sweet' one. Good though! I added onion and red pepper to give it more color, etc. I added about a TSP of red cayenne pepper to satisfy his 'hot' lips.

This was SO YUMMY!!! My husband now wants it once a month! I did marinate my chicken in soy sauce and seared it in a cast iron skillet, then poured the sauce on top of all sauteed veggies. It's a keeper!

This was really easy. I already had a bottle of sweet & sour sauce, so I didn't use the sauce part of the recipe. I just added the pinapple, peppers, onions, and water chestnuts. The batter for the chicken was excellent.

My family really liked this recipe. They rated it 4.5 stars. My favorite thing about the recipe was the crispy batter after frying. The sauce was very good also. We will definately use again. My family doesn't like chicken breast so we used chicken wings and it turned out well.

I had purchased Kikkoman Sweet & Sour Sauce, so I just needed this recipe for the coating. It was excellent! As another reviewer suggested, I cut up the chicken (tenders) then seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, and chicken seasoning; put in fridge for 1/2 hour. For the water, I swirled what was stuck to the edges of the Kikkoman sweet & sour bottle with water and used that. Delicious!

Excellent recipe. I followed a few suggestions from other reviewers and added 1/2tsp salt and 1 1/2tsp baking powder to the flower instead of using self-rising flower. I also added garlic powder to the chicken batter. I made this for a potluck and everyone enjoyed it. It can take a bit of time to make because the recipe is for a huge serving size but it's pretty simple to follow. I will be making this again and again.

Great recipe only thing too much work unless you are off that day (I'm lazy on my work days). It is surely worth the effort. I did follow some of the suggestions since I only had regular flour so I added more salt and baking soda to the batter mix and seasoned the chicken pieces, also added in some chili pepper flakes as my family likes things a little bit spicy. Thanks for sharing.

FANTABULOUS! I read another review about thinking 'I can't believe I just made this' while eating- lol and I felt the SAME way! This was SOOooooOoo yummy! The sauce was good too and made PLENTY with let overs. I was thankful for the other reviews on substitutions for not having self-rising flour, and they came out great! If I ever decide to fry up some chicken (which is like once a year) I will not even think twice about using any other recipe- this is the BEST!

Can I just say that I am officially addicted to this!!! It's become a WEEKLY family favorite. Even my 16mo baby loves this. I followed another reviewer's advice and marinate the chicken in garlic salt and powder for about 30 min. It makes it so much tastier. I've tried this also using shrimp and it is awesome!!!

I thought this was very tasty. The chicken turned out perfect and delicious we ran out of the chicken quickly as the kids kept eating while i was preparing the rest of the dinner. Only needed half of the batter for the chicken and it was plenty. I was a liitle nervous making thwis dish but it wasnt as hard or time consuming as i thought it was going to be. Family loved it and my hubby who eats at chinese restaurants said that is exactly how sweet and sour chicken is supposed to taste. I surved it over chinese lo mein noodles. Will make again.
