This was my first attempt at making cole slaw. It was really easy to make, but too sweet...I would recommend using half the amount of sugar...I just added a little extra mayo and vinegar to make up for the sweetness. Very good recipe though! Just cut back on the sugar!!

Easy and delicious - I served it on a bun with Kahula pork (another recipe here) and it was fantastic. A little on the sweet side for those who don't like their slaw sweet.

Love this recipe! I use it all the time. It's the best coleslaw recipe I've ever made. I use celery seed instead of poppy seeds, and I use salad vinegar or apple cider vinegar instead of plain white vinegar. Make sure you let it sit in the fridge for a couple hours before you serve it, then the taste is fabulous!

Absolute best coleslaw and so easy. Make sure to let it set for a few hours. It's not tasty right after you mix it up but after it sits it's amaaaazing.

Very good! I used light mayo, no oil, 1/3 c sugar and celery seed with delicious results and less calories. I bet it's even better with all the calories!

This really is just like you get at a rotisserie or fried chicken restaurant. This is a really sweet slaw, and while it is really good, I enjoy the more vinegary ones as well. I used reduced fat mayo and there were no problems whatsoever, but I happily cut down on the fat content!

Excellent - just like the restaurant's. Definitely best if you let it sit over night.

This was DELICIOUS!...and I'm not a fan of most cole slaws. I'm not sure why some reviewers are saying it's too sweet...after all, it's called SWEET slaw! Just the way I like it!! I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't have store-bought slaw mix...I had a small head of cabbage I wanted to use up and grated some carrots in too...now I had slaw mix. I also used Miracle Whip...not sure why you wouldn't...mayo has a completely different flavor (not as good in my opinion). So, GREAT recipe just as written! I will make this again and again :-)

Everyone loved this! Even the ones who said they didn't like coleslaw. I also omitted the poppy seeds and used regular mayo...not Miracle Whip (bleh!) I used a head of green and red cabbage with about 2 carrots and doubled the sauce amount. Great recipe!!

WOW! This was good! I substituted the salad dressing and the oil for 1 cup of Mayo. I also didn't have any onions on hand, so I left that out and I didn't have any poppy seeds but used black pepper instead. My hubby couldn't stop eating it and my 11 year old said it was much better than any coleslaw she had ever eaten at any restaurant.

This is the best coleslaw!!!!! I did make a small change however. I use apple cider vinegar instead of the white. It adds a bit more twang. I make this once a week! We love this slaw. I always get requests for the recipe. Thanks for sharing this! I have looked and looked and looked, then I came across this one, look no further!! This is a keeper!

great tasting and actually lasts for a few days. the coleslaw bag i buy is 14 oz., so just a little shy of what the recipe called for so i didnt add all the dressing mixture. i added enough to coat it with a tiny bit extra and that was too much. hard to explain, but next time i am going to coat it just until it's almost all covered and seems like theres not enough dressing on it - cos after it sits in the fridge for a while it becomes creamier. so less is more here. thanks for the great recipe!

It was my first time making Cole Slaw and this recipe turned out amazing! So easy to make! It turned even better the longer I let it stand. I brought it to a potluck and people loved it! One of my friends said he was amazed - the best cole slaw he ever ate in the South comes from a German! I made some minor changes for the sauce. I used 2 1/2 tbsp vinegar, 1 1/2 cups mayonaise and halfed the sugar. After mixing everything I decided to give another half a bag of slaw to it and it turned out great! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

This IS the best slaw recipe. I used celery seed since I did not have poppy seeds (as suggested in another comment) and also added a finely-chopped, small red onion. Got rave reviews from our guests.
