Sweet Restaurant Slaw Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 1)

Okay...yum. I rarely rate recipes, and to do so now for, of all things, cole slaw? Mostly, cole slaw is just there, like a dish of white rice, or a bowl of oatmeal. But THIS cole slaw was really, really good. I sliced my own cabbage, and found that doubling the dressing recipe was the perfect amount for one entire head of cabbage. Do yourself a favor: halve the sugar then taste it. You can always add the other half of the sugar if it's not sweet enough for you, but I found that is was perfect with half the sugar, couldn't imagine it any sweeter, and I like it sweet.

This is an excellent coleslaw recipe. I made it tonight and loved it. I've never liked sweet coleslaw but this was perfect! I just cut back on the oil and sugar and added one tablespoon of sesame oil/dressing. This will now be one of my favorite go-to recipes! Thank you!

This coleslaw recipe was awesome, it does taste just like a chain fried chicken restaurants, I did try to triple the recipe for the amount of coleslaw bagged mix that I had and that was too much so I think starting out with doubling the recipe first.

I modified the recipe as to some of the review suggestions. I used good mayo and omitted the oil, and cut back on the sugar by about 1/4 less of what was called out.I also used the celery seed, as advised in other reviews. I was taking mine to a picnic where there was going to be pulled pork sandwiches, so I added 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to kick it up a notch. I assume people will put the slaw on their sandwich. I also should have taken the advice in one of the reviews stating to only add half the sauce at first, then drain off water after about an hour in fridge. I will use a slotted spoon to serve because of the water build up. I also added more shredded carrot and red cabbage to the pre-mix I bought at supermarket. It looked a bit too dry when I first added the ingredients, but I guess the vinegar did it's magic. It cured very nicely. I gave it four stars because of the over sugared original recipe. I think my tweaks came out better.

I decided to try this for a cookout a few days ago, and it was a big hit. However I made a few modifications to the recipe. Instead of using 1/2 cup of sugar, I cut it down to 1/3 of a cup which was definitely sweet enough. I also omitted the onions (just used a pinch of onion powder), and added a little pepper. It was really easy to make.

Excellent - very easy to make! I was really stunned. We thought it was good enough to eat right after it was made. We refrigerated it overnight and the next day it seemed a little soupy but it still tasted great - even better. The amount of sauce is easy to adjust to your own liking.

Omitted poppy seeds and used light mayo instead of miracle whip. Turned out awesome! Seemed like it might be too dry at first but I had made it a day ahead of time and it was perfect and creamy in a few hours.

I would also give 4 1/2 stars...really good, but I just need find a little something to make it a 5. It is sweet, but we like sweet! I used mayo instead of mw per other reviews and added some broc slaw to the cole slaw which gave it a slightly heartier texture. I did everything else as directed. Served with Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs. Will keep in the books!!! Thinking about throwing in some cilantro next time. Call me crazy.
