Pears are a very good alternative to apricots. Well received.

This recipe was fantastic! I made it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. Wouldn't change anything! I plan on making it again soon for a holiday pot-luck.

I made these for Thanksgiving and everyone in the room commented on how tasty they were. I put an extra 1/4 cup of pears in and sprinkled brown sugar on top. Delicious and so easy!

This recipe would have earned five stars, but there is a MAJOR adjustment needed. Use 4.5 cups of potatoes, 1/2 c. of water and the rest of the ingredients as listed. THEN you have five stars. Otherwise, you have a sweet potato and pear drink and should serve it in a glass.

I made it "chunkier" to add more consistency. It was really good with pork tenderloin.

Great! I added just a little vanilla and used fresh pears instead of canned. I also boiled versus microwaved, but doubt that makes any difference in taste. Wonderful, quick and easy recipe.

Very tasty! Never would have thought about combining pears and sweet potatoes in this way, but I like the combination better than plain mashed sweet potatoes.

Excellent!!! I've told everyone about this recipe. So easy and fabulous. I used fresh pears and one of them wasn't quite ripe enough and I couldn't get it soft enough to mix so next time I'll try the canned pears or make sure that the fresh pears are really ripe. Fabulous recipe!

I just used this recipe for a demonstration at a nutrition workshop. The dish came out great! I microwaved each sweet potato (without the water) in the microwave for 5-6 minutes each. Then, mashed it with a fork and took out the skin. I substituted some low-fat vanilla yogurt in place of the butter and sugar and added half a jar of pear halves. The texture of the pears went great with that of the sweet potatoes. With the yogurt, pears, and sweet potatoes, there was no need for extra sugar. We did add some cinnamon and would've added nutmeg had we had some. The clients loved it!

I used this recipe for Thanksgiving 2007 and it turned out very good. A healthy alternative to traditional sweet potato casserole.

Made this processed-sugar free by subsituting orange juice and a little maple syrup for the brown sugar. They were a little creamier, but Yummy! I halved the recipe, but kept butter at 1/4 cup and added more cinnamon-maybe a couple of teaspoons. Thanks for the pear idea!!!

This is awesome and easy. I did make a few changes. I used 4 fresh very ripe pears, nuked them for 2-3 minutes until soft, also added one large can of yams, drained and a dash of nutmeg. After blending all together I topped with plain bread crumbs drizzled with butter and baked for 20 minutes at 350. This is a delicious and easy dish!!

I give it five stars when my husband really likes it.... he's hard to impress. This was really good. A different way to serve yams - by the way, I used one of those large cans of sweet potatoes - a lot less work and it was still great.
