Very good! But too sweet -- I would use half as much brown sugar. I also added vanilla and nutmeg, as a previous rater had suggested. I kept the skins on, hand mashed, then covered with bread crumbs and baked for 10 mins. It was great!

Fantastic! To keep it from beeing like "baby food" slightly mash the pears with fork.

This was an excellent side dish for my Christmas dinner. I used a 5lb. bag of sweet potatoes and it was perfect. I also added a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor. Delicious!

Really good! The pears are a nice touch! It is extremely smooth and creamy. It almost needs something crunchy to add to the texture.

I tried this as an alternative to mashed potatoes. Very fresh taste, but I just couldn't get past the texture. It was more enjoyable when it was still hot. I would try it again, using more sweet potatoes and less pears.

I will make this every Thanksgiving from now on. I just added 1/2 a cup extra of pears to give it a hint of taste.

I boiled the sweet potatoes the same way I would normal potatoes. This took longer but allowed for multitasking while preparing dinner. Great recipe, very simple!

I made this for an office potluck and got rave reviews. I used a 29 ounce can of yams drained, a 15 oz can of pears drained then mashed together. I added 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 stick of butter, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp ginger. Simmered in my slow cooker on medium for about 45 minutes -- out of this world. Next time I will also add 1/4 tsp of cloves.

We loved it at our house and a coworker liked it too! I halved the recipe but used almost all the butter (I cut of the end to butter bread so not sure how much it was total) and used all the cinnamon. It was too much butter. If you like cinnamon taste then leave what is called, I like a hint not a flavor so will be using less next time. And there will be a next time!

I wasn't a big fan of the pear in this dish. I am a big fan of sweet potatoes and wanted ot see if it was possible to make them better. I believe that they can stand alone and I could see how this recipe would be very good without the pear addition.

I thought this recipe was very yummy. My husband and 3 year old daughter didn't care for it though. The pear flavor was very strong, but I liked it. The consistency was a bit runny.

Assuming you like sweet potatoes, it is very good. I substituted some splenda for half the brown sugar and only used a few tbsp butter. Loved the pear flavor.

Quick and easy! Should be in all family kitchen cook books. My wife loves it. I halved everything and puréed the pears. Heated them in the micro for 1 minute then mixed all. The second time you make this adjust the brown sugar up/down to match your local or national sweet potato. If its yellow you've used sweet potatoes if its orange they're yams and need less brown sugar. The photo is miss leading.

In a nutshell, I really liked these but my boyfriend and guests said they were only "ok". Their suggestion was "less pear". I may try this again with that suggestion. Otherwise, I thought the two made a good pairing and very much enjoyed the recipe!

This recipes for sweet potatoes has now taken the place of our boring baked sweet potatoes. I made it exactly as wwritten and it was fabulous. We liked the fact that it is low in sugar and fat. I will make this recipe a lot! Thanks!
