This was amazing! I made it for Christmas dinner and it was better than my mom's version. Everyone loved it.

This is fantastic. I made it slightly off from the recipe, as I used a bit less brown sugar, omitted the coconut (as a friend with whom I was sharing it is allergic), and used 2 eggs instead of 2 1/3. As a side note, the nuts I used were almonds.

I made this dish for our Thanksgiving feast and it was a great hit. However, next time I will definitely cut way back on the sugar inside and a bit on the top too. This may become a regular dish on my family's table. And what is 1/3 egg? ... I increased the quantities to use 3 eggs.

My husbnd who doesn't like sweet potatoes this, so that is all I need to make this again. The dish tastes more like a dessert than a veggie so I won't make this a staple recipe but it is a great treat every once in awhile

Seriously…my mother has made a similar recipe for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s for the last 30 years—certainly a family favorite. Very, very similar except for the top layer. Every time my mother would make it, it'd be slightly different. Raisins are a standard filling, however, sometimes she’ll substitute pineapple, sliced walnuts, chocolate chips, or marshmallows. Had to come here for the recipe to surprise my family. After tasting, we all agreed it was really close, however, there should be brown sugar instead of white sugar as well as more cinnamon and butter. If you want to create an absolutely unforgettable dish add a graham cracker crust!
