It was a really good recipe, but not as good as how my mom makes it

I really enjoyed this pie, however, found it just a tad too sweet for me. I reduced the sugar down to 2/3 cup, but next time I think I'll only use 1/2 cup. Also, I think I'll use brown sugar instead of white. Another thing, I think the nutmeg was just a bit strong, so next time I'll reduce it down to 1/4 of a teaspoon. But, overall a very good recipe and I'll definitely use it in the future!

Three medium potatoes were just enough for the pie. I also left out the spices because they tend to over power the taste of the sweet potatoes. Afterall, it is a sweet potato pie!

Love it. It took 20 minutes longer than the directions say to cook, but that could be because I just moved to a new place with an oven I'm not used to (though the thermometer did read 350 the whole time). I ran out of nutmeg so substituted ginger and was very happy with the results. Try it when it's still a little warm--amazing.

4 stars for the original recipe, 5 stars with my modifications yet not 100% perfect - next time it will be perfect though. First, I used 2 cups of sweet potatoes, I "mashed" them in the blender with the rest of the ingredients. I added a teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 tbsp of flour, 1/4 tsp ginger and 1/4 tsp cloves. I only used half a cup sugar (a mix of brown and white) but next time I'll use 2/3 cup. Next time I'll also double all the spices. Then I'm positive it will REALLY be perfect!!

OMG! Total pie heaven, this is going in my favorites book! I followed some other suggestions and used evaporated milk, half brown sugar and half white sugar, and before adding anything to the yams, I whipped them in my mixer to get rid of strings (may use food processor next time for better chopping, not a major issue however. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe :)

Yummy! I did have to leave it in for another 5-7 minutes for the toothpick to come out clean, but other than that I followed the recipe exactly. Much better taste than any store bought Sweet Potato Pie I've had. This recipe will be added to my Thanksgiving dinner traditions (though I am sure I will make it much more often than that).

OK, so for those of us who don't know what 1 lb of sweet potato looks like, it is about 1.5 large sweet potatos. I made it with 2 whole large and it was just a bit too much. I followed this recipe to the letter and it came out really good. Very sweet, will maybe try using 1/2 cup sugar next time. Great alternative to pumpkin pie, and sweet potato is very good for you. I cooked mine the whole 60 min, and it still looked mushy in the middle, but the toothpick came out clean. So it may be decieving, after a little while of sitting on the counter it totally came together and I am very happy I didn't leave it in the oven for any additional time. All in all a very easy, enjoyable recipe that I will surely make again. Thanks!

i haven't tried this recipe yet,i will.i will suggest that you only add egg yolks not the whites,so that the pie will thicken. You may not have to add flour.

Delicious! I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. I weighed out a pound of sweet potato after they were cooked. Added a Tbsp of flour. It turned out perfect!

This recipe was delicious. I used three sweet potato's and made two pies with the ingrediants listed. I seemed a bit much to me to use 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar on just one potato. I also added more cinnamon and nutmeg. I baked the pies for one hour. I will definitely be using this recipe often.

Very Good Recipe and great teasting pie. I did take the advice of other reviewers and made the following changes. I use evaporated milk instead of regular milk. I add a 1/4 tsp of cloves and ginger and 2 tbsp of lemon juice. The lemon enhances the tast of the potatoes. I halve the white sugar and replace with brown sugar. Last, I also added a 1 tbsp flour to the mixture to thicken up a bit and I still found the mixture & Pie to be runny. I may need to cut down on the evaporated milk or add additonal flour.

great flavor even though I was out of vanilla...and I added a little extra sugar. Next time, I'll have the vanilla and stick to just the cup of sugar...GREAT!!
